Subset Games Forum

I think it would be great if this game had some sort of lan multiplayer. Either versus style or co-op style, either one would be amazing. Thoughts? (Not saying I don't love the game as it is, I've been playing it non-stop since it came out)

I figure the versus would probably go something like this: You both pick a ship and are dropped on opposite sides of the sector map - both making your way to some sort of middle battleground. The alternative is just starting both players out in the same system with only so much scrap to spend on crew, weapons, upgrades etc.

co-op would be interesting, I'd love to see what they'd do with an engine that could handle more than 1-on-1 battles. That also opens up the possibility of asymmetric combat- 2v3, 1v2, 2v4, or god forbid 1v3. Always against the player, of course, except against a super-ship akin to our current finale- even then it'd have to be made more dangerous. Players will focus fire enemies down once weapons systems are disabled, whereas I doubt the AI would do the same.

Yeah, that would be pretty neat. I think Versus would still be the most fun though, because an AI can't hear you when you call it a dirty thieving rattlesnake.

That I would greatly enjoy, also it opens the chances of allot more tactics, co-ordination of attacks, or even transporting to allies ships to defend them if they are boarded. Could be fun.
