I have the DRM free version from the FTL website. It says the game is DRM free, does that mean I can send the game my freind who wants it but cant afford it?

Thanks, I presume sending the steam key is ok then?Unlucky Scarecrow wrote:Not really. DRM stands for Digital Rights Management; it's an anti-piracy measure that game companies use. Nowadays, DRM doesn't really tend to work well unless it's very invasive and sometimes harmful, so some companies (Like the team behind FTL) just leave it out as a way of showing respect to their customers. This doesn't mean it's alright to pirate it or help others pirate it, even though being DRM free makes it easier to pirate.
That would technically probably be okay - it's your key, you can do with it what you like. It is only usable once, though, so you won't be able to get the game on Steam as well with it. I do strongly advise that both of you buy the game, however, in order to support the developers, as buying the game once but really getting two copies is not the real spirit.madattak9 wrote:Thanks, I presume sending the steam key is ok then?Unlucky Scarecrow wrote:Not really. Normally I wouldn't try to send the game to a friend, particularly not this one, but his parents tend to be somewhat harsh. The New Romance wrote:That would technically probably be okay - it's your key, you can do with it what you like.
