[Suggestion] New Game Plus Mode

I've suggestion to increase game replayability - New Game+ Mode.

Something could be transferred between games like one weapon or crew member.
Even better - game complexity (not necessarily difficulty) could depend on it.

AVWW game contains good example of this concept where you can get your personal improvements between so called continents - they're also getting more and more complex.

I don't think a straight New Game+ mode would work if it's implemented the same way as every other one I've seen. It would imbalance the game to greatly if you started out with the same ship/equipment/crew that you ended with.

That being said, I think that it could be a neat idea if some of the crew that you had that survived through to the end do carry over and it gives you a chance to hire them with the same skill/ablilites (if crew lvld up) that they ended with. It could be offered in the same random encounter senario that you'd normally be able to aquire new crew (slavers and the like) and since there are going to be litterally hundreds of individual crew, it'd come more down to random chance than anything else.

I'm not sure how hard making the crew persistant would be but it'd be a neat idea for any future add-ons/development.

I agree that transferring whole ship between games wouldn't make much sense. It's all about some small, well thought element to be transferred.
Usually this makes you stronger so the game can be a little harder. There has to be some mechanism for player to catch up if new game gets to hard (than it's sort of auto-balancing).

In my opinion it's more about increased game complexity with every new game than anything else.
Like new type of missions/ships (in general features) that unlocks after some achievements.

Of course it makes game flatter in the beginning, but it also helps game to stay fresh longer with those unlocks you're getting from time to time.

Most rogue likes have you start over against impossible odds. It's not about actually "Winning", it's more about seeing how far u can get/survive. I hope they keep that in game. But that's just me.

To an extent, you're already getting what you're asking for here. I quote the original Kickstarter brief:
Deep Meta-game: Unlock playable ships, unique crew members, weapons and equipment to be used in subsequent play-throughs.
Short of bringing your old ship over wholesale, I'm not really sure what more you can ask for in a game of this format.

I think carrying over a single crew member (if they level) or piece of equipment would make sense (or both).

At the end of your game you pick what to bring over to your next game. You'd start out with a "veteran" crew member or a piece of gear that was given to you by an old captain.

Gives you a bit of an edge, but nothing too massive.

I concur. I blathered on in another topic about how Desktop Dungeons does this excellently so wont do so again here. Unlocking new missions/ships/races etc should have the potential to offer not only a sense of reward but also new challenges that keep replayability high.

perhaps you could come across a wreck of another ship (your old ship) and have a chance to find a crew member in stasis or whatnot
