Netbook resolution?

Hi,

I really love this game as there has been nothing like it out for some time...and I also really like roguelikes :D

In my humble opinion, this game is perfect for netbooks due to its low hardware requirements, however, it just won't fit on my netbook's screen. Something always gets cut off making the game impossible to play. I know it's kind of late in the game, so to speak, to change something like this before the final release, but would it be possible to add 1024 X 600 resolution in the future?

Thanks for your time :D

I second this. It's the number one item on my FTL post-release/someday wishlist.

The question of how to do it is the tricky part.

Panning the screen after the mouse would work?

I daresay we'd have to wait for the tablet rewrite, though. :/ And then we probably wouldn't see it on pc. Sigh. Stupid catch-22s... :p

Hooray! I am not the only one :D

Isn't there some sort of scale-to-fit-native-resolution function one could implement in a game like this?

I don't think panning the mouse would work during, say, combat due to the fact that you would have to be frantically panning between the commands on the bottom and shuttling crew members to various rooms in the upper middle.

This netbook of mine can play Torchlight, a 3d game with a mass of stuff going on at the same time. FTL is a lot lighter than that :D

Well you can pause the game while frantically panning. :) Maybe the UI pans with you, and you just pan between ships?

My netbook is old. Dunno if it'd even run the game. :p It's worth a shot, though. And I'd get to play a lot more, haha.

Panning is horrible in my opinion :P

I'll take a slightly smaller interface without panning, thank you very much :D

I wish I knew how to go about getting the game to fit my resolution :D The .ini files don't list any resolution sizes, just a generic Fullscreen On, Fullscreen Off etc. etc.

I'm also having the same problem, netbook's max. resolution is 1152x864, a compressed screen option would be nice.

Me too, playing this on my netbook (1024x600) would be awesome!

Hopefully this is something that can be patched in, this is kinda the perfect light game for netbooks otherwise.

Well, I found a program called "Infinite screen", found here:
http://ynea.futureware.at/cgi-bin/index.pl

Which works reasonably well at panning, just set the area to finite (on the 2nd or 3rd tab) and delete the control hotkey for mouse panning (first column on the first tab). In game panning would work better, but this is an acceptable substitute for me.
