(suggestion)Autofire per weapon

Hi!

I would like to see an auto-fire option per weapon. I have a strong Beam Weapon and a fast Ion Weapon. I want the Ion to auto fire, but not the beam, as long as my away team is over there :)

If you just want the one weapon to autofire you can select the other weapon and right-click to not place the target-lock/aim/thingie.

Does that make sense or help at all?

While disengaging each weapon manually is easy, as you say, it is possible to make a stupid mistake, i second this idea! :p

Weapons that are nerfed (beams) by shields, or use ammo would benefit, and then we wouldnt kill our boarders by accident, that said ill never do that again.

Also note, powering down and repowering a weapon does not make it drop its target.

Not powering down a weapon, that would not be productive. You left-click a weapon as if you're going to kill someone with it and then you right click empty space. Weapon keeps charging, but is no longer locked :)

But I do agree that there should be a better way

I had at least 10 rage quits when my away team dies in the exploding ship because of a beam weapon i forgot to unlock...

I'd much rather see an auto button on each weapon, and maybe somehow even a *random* targeter, in case the system that you locked onto is already down and you're busy fixing stuff on your ship.
I always have this great idea to post about when reading a thread, but I always seem to loose the subject while writing a reply, and end up not saying anything at all. I should sleep more. Is that a cookie?

I like the idea too. I've also rage quit (more than once) after accidentally destroying a ship with my double Mantis full melee skill crew on board.
