So, my strategy with this little ship was upgrading the weaponry first by adding some other gun. Then, I went for the engines and subsystems. I did not install any shields until the last stand, where I had plenty of scrap to build a 3-layer shield.

It was difficult enough to make it to the last fight, but well, I kinda made it!

My favorite strategy was using airlocks to kill intruders, you can see the rear rooms are out of oxygen but that's because there were some guys in my ship (They could get the oxygen before I could kill them but that didn't matter). Cheaper and more effective than an anti-intruder drone...

Nice win, and nice strategy as well. Upgrading engines gets more mileage out of your supershield and overall just keeps damage down (and wastes less scrap to repairs). Shields on Zoltan cruisers tend to be far less important than other cruisers but it's still impressive to make it all the way to the Last Stand with just a supershield.
