I just had what was possibly my most powerful ship ever, in a personal record-setting game, so I figured I'd show it off and see what y'all have had as well.

I had a rough start in this game -- bad enough that I thought about throwing in the towel and trying again. Two sun systems in a row, with at least one drone, in a Mantis A ("Gila Monster") wasn't looking good. The turning point, I think, was when I got a Burst Laser II early on. That gave me the firepower to handle most early ships, and the Mantises took care of the rest. From that point on, the RNG was unusually kind -- so much so that it gave me no less than two more BLIIs. That's what I think makes this my best overall ship -- I've had Rock crews that were about as good in the boarding department, and others (like an Osprey) that were almost as good in space battles, but none of them that could do it all like this one can.

All the crew are either very high or maxed out in their specialties. The equipment is the only thing that's a bit weak; I had the Mantis Pheromones, I think a shield charger, and I can't remember what else (which suggests to me that it must not've been that good ).



The flagship at the end was just totally overwhelmed. The Mantis elites took out the missile launcher, and the rest was really easy. I probably could have won it using just either the marines or the burst lasers, so doing both resulted in some overkill.

Add in that this ship earned me the Mantis B, and I'm pretty happy with how that game went. The only thing that could've made it better was if I'd found a way to get the Slug Cruiser in the same game.

And yes, it was on Easy, so I know that it's not much of an accomplishment in the grand scheme of things -- but I figured a strong ship can stand on its own merits, even if I had a few handicaps in getting it.

I don't have a screencap, but Osprey with level four artillery beam, three BL2s and a couple of autoreloaders - it was a (literally) a blast. Combine with maxed shields, def drone and solid evasion (some 45%) - NOTHING stood a chance.

You can't see it on the forum because the picture's cut off on the right side, but if you click on the pic, you'll get to see the drone layout. It had one Mark II Defense Drone and one Mark I.

Yeah, I was pretty confident that the Monster (though I think I actually named it the "Wasp") could handle anything. I think I slipped and might've let one or two damage points in at some point during the fight, but an elite player with that setup probably could go indefinitely without taking damage. Three of the most overpowered weapon in the game isn't bad, and when you have some very good boarders and the best defense to go with it, it's a winning combination. I think it's probably the hardest beatdown I've ever given a flagship.

I just finished a run with 3 Hull Lasers and a Pike Beam, a weapon preigniter and 2 auto reloaders. I also had 2 defense drones an a fully charged artillery beam, level 4 shields and almost everything else maxxed out because the scrap was rolling in so fast. I had a teleporter but didn't bother using it on the final boss.

The only thing that would have made it better was BL2s instead, but that can be said of most any ship

No screen caps, but I had a Mantis B with two BL2 and a Heavy Laser 2. Oh, and of course, four Mantis. I'd drop the full crew on the ship, and once they started heading for the medbay, I'd unload my lasers on it. The 6 BLs were easily enough to pierce the shield on all but the most stubborn of ships, and the two heavy lasers blasts would disable the medbay, and likely breach it or set it on fire, delaying it's repair. I was like unto a god.

Most powerful ship I had was a Kestrel B. It had 2 BL1, a Pegasus missile and an Ion Bomb. Crewed by two humans, two Engi, two Rocks, a Mantis, and a Zoltan. 3 layers of shield, 4 levels of engine, 40% evasion, Defense Drone, level 2 Cloak, all that good stuff. Cruised through the first two stages of the Rebel Flagship fight, didn't even have a teleporter. And then I ran out of missiles. FML.
