That's the same strategy I use when I have 4 fully-upgraded mantises and a 4-man teleporter, though you must admit that's not typical across all ships.

You can also pull this off with the crystal crew's Lockdown ability, as you can pick them off one by one and sealing the enemy crew inside. Takes more time, but works out the same way in the end.
