Engi got super repair speed, how to utilize this best?

Imo it seems the pilot being engi is most important as you will lose ALL evade with pilot system broken. Engine room only loses 5% evade so that is not as important. I hear manning shield only makes shield recharge 15% faster which seems little on paper.

Pilot engi crew most important? What systems should I man with my engi crew?

For Engi A, I use Human as my pilot; while it's true that you need to fix it fast, however you only need to fix just 1 bar of damage for it to regain most, if not all, of it functionality, so Human is suffice IMO. Cockpit also doesn't seem to get hit that often as far as I can tell...

For the question of what system I man my crew in a 3 crew ships in early game— weapon + shield for ATK drones / engine for everything else; there's always an exception depend on the circumstances and my current status, of course.

Nah, you need to have the engi on the least critical system, so he can leave his station and assist with repairs. I think rockman is the best pilot. Put the the engi on shields or engine, or ideally have him free so he can repair without leaving a station umanned.
