A ship in the second sector with two Burst Laser II's? How the hell am I possibly supposed to live long enough to escape, never mind engage, a ship that fires SIX SHOTS in the SECOND BLOODY SECTOR?!

FRUSTRATION!

Blame the low power consumption of the BL2. Most weapons with that kind of damage require 3 so the rng is less likely to roll them. It could have been worse, it could have been Artemis, Leto and a Mini-Beam or two... low powered monsters.

Yeah it's sort of funny, now that I'm a couple hours removed from it. The very thing I like so much about the Burst Laser 2 (the low power comp) is the very thing that foiled me.

Hoisted on my own petard, as it were :p

It's not a rogue game if it doesn't kill you before the second exit.

Of course if you can hit the weapons room and get the two out of sync, with 2 shield bubbles, even that isn't so bad (except for the first volley).

Every stock ship, except for Mantis and Crystal B, either can get a shield-penetrating volley out in under 12s or has a way to survive the initial attack (Zoltan, Stealth). After that, even if the enemy can repair it, you are dealing with out of sync weapons and 3 points of enemy lasers vs 2 points of shields + evasion isn't really that bad.

Except in his case, the 2x BL2 don't go out of sync. :) it's probably a reroll for me if I encounter it at the beginning of level 2.

They go out of sync after you hit the weapons room. Odds are good that after repaired the timing is staggered.

Apologies. I missed the part of your post about hitting their weapons room. Me bad.
