I just encountered a seriously f'd up rockman sector.. I made my way to the beacon, was halfway through the nodes, when the rebels showed up. No prob, you'd think.. well, turns out, big problem, because those damn rockmen put up a big frigging ROAD CLOSED sign (there was no node between me and exit), soI had to jump ALL the way back to the starting node, which was swarming with rebels by now... game over, since I had nothing to defend against the inevitable missile barrage entering sector 2 with the Engi Cruiser...

Please tell me this wasn't due to the game detecting me 'cheating' by leveling up all my crew members' skills on a 1 gun rebel scout? That would be... evil... and badass.. but mostly evil.

It didn't detect anything.

BTW, in Options you can turn on beacon paths. This helps you plan your route and avoid dead ends.
