Kestrel sideview

Technically this thread should be at fanwork but since i need input from original game designer with discussing the matter might as well put it into discussion board.
So - i'm modelling kestrel, however problem i stuck upon - i have no single clue how does it look from the side to represent heights accurately. Here is what i were able to pull off so far

Problem is - door sections make all thing confusing as hell, and coloring of light reflection proportional to angle of ship's plating doesn't seem to be very accurate.

Here is the poke onto ship's structure - what's under this plating to the left? i clearly see ho front panel goes under back one AND under exit slots leaving me guessing.
Could you please explain or draw a draft of sideview of kestrel?
