hello i have to had to reinstall my winxp today.
after that my faster than light on steam doesnt start anymore.
when i start it the screen is blink up a little short time and nothing happens....

before i reinstalled winxp the game runs ...

i deinstalled ftl and reinstalled it again but i cannot start it anymore....

i need help

that the message (in german) when i start it out of folder


(the program couldnt not right initalisted , press ok to end up the program) something like that seems to be the meaning

After you reinstalled, did you make sure you updated your graphics drivers to the latest version? What graphics card do you have by the way?

There is also a possibility that your prof.dat file (which saves your progress in the game) is corrupted. See this thread for how to find that file: http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1892

Make a copy of prof.dat, then rename it so that the game will not find it, and try running the game again.

Hi, i have an gforce gtx 275 and the latest driver.
well i already have delete my whole steam stuff and reinistalled steam + after that FTL but the same i click on starting the game ..the screen is blinking very shortly and nothing happens

i realdy need help... i reinstalled all again win xp and steam and the same again...
the first time i bought it over steam i could start that game ...but after reinstalling windows it wont start anymore.

i need help wanna play that game.... every other steam game runs fine

i went into steam folder D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common the FTL folder is 157 MBbig is that correct or to small?

I cannot check right now, but it looks correct.

The size is right, but it looks like the problem is that something is missing. Something that was lost when re-installing everything. Not FTL files, but some system file or driver.

Maybe you are missing audio drivers or directx components.

Hello. Sorry about the problem and the late response to your thread.

Can you check for two things for me in your FTL installation folder?

1) A file labelled stdout.txt
2) Any files in the sub-folder "crashlogs"

And either email them to zasdarq@ftlgame.com or post their contents in this thread? If there are any crash logs, they are likely repeats of the same message so you might only need to post/send one

Hope we can get you fixed! As it's been suggested already, it's most likely a driver issue (video or sound are both good bets to double check) since it was running fine before Windows was reinstalled.
