You have a
valid point, but you're being overly aggressive about it.
Instead of slipping into arguments, try to actually discuss and refine the solution.
As it stands, your proposal would require the current trading system to be revamped to fit the "augments are tools, not the actual goods" theme (not to mention it doesn't really work with some of the other tradable items, like medicine, food, luxury goods, et cetera). This would be a pretty big effort for a relatively small gain, and I think it's obvious why Sleeper is reluctant to attempt that.
It's late and I'm way too tired to come up with more examples, but please try to actually
contribute, if you will.

Yep that's the problem. Interestingly enough the enemies actually get the boss artillery weapons instead of the player vindicator beam when they are equipped with artillery systems. I did not test it but it might be possible to give them all the additional boss weapons by giving them more than one artillery system. One artillery system simply gives them the boss laser. That is actually really convenient, cause it is less of a killer than having the vindicator beam on enemies.
Also more findings: Text lists seem to exhaust themselves after being called a lot of times in one game. They then start to display only their last entry whenever they are called, at last that seems to be observable with the combat aug flavour text.

EDIT: And talking about bug reports:
Something didn't go right with a planetary artillery event. It's from a Zoltan-controleld sector, and the spotter is a "Zoltan Blockade" (which BTW doesn't have Zoltan shields, although 3 bubbles at sector 3 is quite powerful too, and it "short-jumped from the atmosphere", so who knows).
I heard the sound of the artillery lock-on sequence initiating. However, I saw no UI prompts at all (the bomb countdown animation), and not a single miss either. I didn't wait enough to check if it was just a case of missing animation, as you can understand.

I have noticed some strange things about Boss fight, since last attempts to tweak its encounter. First of all, during phase 1, it had only *three* shield bubbles. It had manned general-purpose weapon system as advertised (apart from boss artillery thingies), but I haven't noticed it being used for anything.
Now, during phase 2, I got event text about single cruiser giving artillery support, but there was *no* artillery UI prompts, no actual artillery banging, and no other effects, during rather long fight. I would say that it doesn't work
OTOH, phase 3 "run to hazard sector" worked great - flagship tried to hide in asteroid field. Quite ridiculous choice for zoltan super-shield equipped ship (asteroids banging his super-shield made an actually easy fight even easier), but well, it worked.

I would love to try and take her on with ion weapons only, but I suspect you don't get a choice of the hazard type...
...anyway: I do remember her only using three shield bubbles at some point, yeah. Must be the result of increased system levels without a corresponding generator power buff.

Is there a buglist somewhere? I ran into the following and I'm afraid I don't have the desire to read all 85 pages to check to see if it's known.
This is what happened during an engagement. All the various huds got weird blue masking effects (but green masks for the systems ones), the honeycomb mask appeared at all times, popup boxes wouldn't get repainted over when dismissed, weapons would leave permanent trails, etc. Never had this happen on vanilla, but it happened the first time I ran CE + Ships + People + Better Planets and BGs. I'm on Win8. Running the FTL from the Humble Bundle (not steam). I can give specifics on the various skins I chose for People. After beating the ship, I did a save+quit and continue and it came back up this way again. It fixed itself as soon as I jumped.
On a tangent, my first playthrough was pretty rough. Was doing fine until about sector three or four (shortly after this screenshot). The new sector I jumped in first presented me with a two shield rebel warship (run away!), then a three shield one (ack! run away harder!), then immediately after that into another two shield one. Not sure if that was just terrible RNG or if it's a zone where the fleet goes to die...

Hello, I am new to the FTL mod community. For some of the other mods that I use for FTL there are .ftl files, but this mod doesn't seem to have one. I have tried looking up videos or other tutorials on how to install FTL mods, but all of them seem to tell me that you just put the .ftl file into the mod manager. I have downloaded this mod several times only to find that there is still no .ftl file. I would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me as to how I might install this very interesting mod.

Can you post the link you are going to, Awelgat? The link in the first thread that is labeled "Download Version 1.069" goes to:

As you can see from the URL, it's definitely an .ftl file and it worked like a charm for me once I downloaded Slipstream (as per the instructions in the first post), put that .ftl in the mods dir and ran modman.

Jeppy: Something similar happened to someone else, so I'll make a guess and say that it's because you're loading CE before BPaB.
As CE does gameplay-based modifications to planet backgrounds on top of BPaB, it's normal to deduce that CE should be loaded after BPaB.
Many years of Fallout 3 modding have inclulcated me with an eighth sense fore load order shenanigans.
Also, by sector 3 it's pretty normal to find 2-bubble shields. If you're finding CE too hard, try using sMPK (an add-on for CE) on top of it, since it makes Swarm Missiles (the bane of our existance) only able to pierce two shields.

Yep, BPaB has to be loaded before CE, else it causes this glitch in PDS events.
@ Estel: Yeah, turned out that boss artillery support does not work. That will be removed in the next update.
The three shield bubbles in phase one where intended. Will probably be reverted as well. The boss was planned to have five bubbles in phase three, but that seems not to work.
