Tabitha shrugged. "I dunno. I'm not in charge here. Ask whoever is in charge what to do, because I'm thinking we have to help out that damaged ship. Federation regulations say so but it's rather open on how a Captain can help out. If there is no one in charge here, I suppose we could vote on our course of action and then vote a Captain in?"
She put the canister with the others "If you find more of these though... let's trade them in at a store. I was thinking we could get a percolator for the mess and maybe some proper food and none of that replicator crap. If this ship was a restaurant, I would have stormed out before they served me water! But I'm only an Ensign and it's my duty to serve in these harsh times."

"You might not want to sell those." Kr said as he walked in the room. "I've just had an unpleasant experience with the AI, and been informed that it has poison gas all in the ship. Supposedly kills in seconds. These canisters are likely what the gas is in. There's probably more than we can find if this AI isn't stupid. It also said there's more in our headsets that can be injected. Considering this, it's probably got more ways to kill us than it's ever going to tell. Oh and about the captain, forget it, we don't have a captain, we have an AI." Kr left Tabitha and Targon there without giving them a chance to respond.

Washington, who had been silent for the majority of the ship, spoke up.
"Those canisters look like they're full of Trypsinium-5, the gas used in the old federation-coalition war to wipe out all the coalition races at once. It would kill me, Kr, and Targon in a jiffy." said Washington. "Trypsinuim-5 has another use though: it is good for cloning tanks. put one of these babies in a cloning tnk's gas chanber, and its usable. we can always blow up the trysinium if we need to. it is highly flammable."
Washington then rembered the rogue zoltan. "And does anyone know the deal behind the zoltan in the engine room?" he asked. "But, his appearance does prove my theory that zoltan are generated from FTL travel and genetic distortion from FTL travel."
BTW the 'coalition' is a thing I've been working on recently. basically they're a faction from before the Fed-mantis war which consisted of the four 'greatest' races: Crystals, mantis, rocks and slugs. they had a big war with the federation and that conflict was what drove the crystal out of the galaxy, made rocks xenophobic and made mantis the most powerful single alien empire in the galaxy. the mantis empire rose from the ruins of the coalition and took control of its territories.

Tabitha nodded "So like I said, we can probably sell them at a store and get some decent returns. People will want to pay good money for clone bay material and I want proper materials or else we're not going to be flying very far with this replicator sludge."
She looked over at the engine room and thought about the Zoltan then said to Washington "I wouldn't say that they are spawned from FTL drives themselves. I used to get Zoltan eating all the time at my restaurant and there's been no complaints about them being unable to process what I cook.
"I overheard a group from the ZRPC even talk about a crazy old man living in the homeworlds who challenges ship crews to choose their doom or something..." she added "So there's no doubt that they do have some sort of power that's related to FTL energy or something... unless those space cops were just making up rumours."

"All crew to stations, Rebel ship inbound! Arm the weapons!"
The ship had already lost a wing, but the A.I. saw what would happen if they pulsed the engine on the broken wing...
"Look, if we don't destroy this ship, we're going to be ripped to shreds by that broken engine. We need to take it down quickly! The M-ASB is already charging."
Quintet quickly checked the opposing ship, and finding nothing of interest, started a system check on the ship and returned to work quickly.
"Now if they had boarders, this might be a challenge. And they do, so arm your blasters. This isn't going to be pretty."
The ship's system check returned as "Functional" rather than "Optimal", and a quick check on the overview revealed that a single, currently pointless battery canister was missing and everyone thought it was a poison canister. Quintet knew they couldn't find out that there, in fact, was no poison at all, and the ship had been striped of it due to Quintet's bad reputation.
"PUT. THE. POISON. BACK." aired on the ship's communications.

Re: One final chance: An FTL-RP
Tabitha wondered why in the vastness that is space itself that they were close enough to take damage from an engine. Unless...
"Oh bloody hell!? The auto-pilot's also suicidal? I can't trust anything around here to be working can I?" she exclaimed, jumping back into her seat at the helm.
"You'd think it'd be easy to point out it's a Rebel ship just from the IFF or at least a pirate vessel..." she grumbled, switching off the autopilot with a bit too much force. Several shots flew past the ship, one impacting with the shield as the pilot tried to evade them with the sluggish engines. She felt the inertial dampeners straining and the canister she had on the shelf suddenly fell off and clattered to the ground. Luckily it didn't break but the pilot was too busy to notice it.

Re: One final chance: An FTL-RP
Targon raced to the weapons upon hearing alarms blaring on the ship. A quick scan of the enemy revealed that they were equipped with a BL2 and a HL1. "Why weren't we given those?" he grumbled.
"Fly to the right," he said to Tabitha over the intercom, "I'm going to hit their weapons with our Flak." With that the ship did a quick turn and gave the Mantis a clear shot. The Flak fired and another sensor scan showed that the weapons were only partially damaged, the BL2 was still online. "Now to the left!" He yelled, "the ASB is about to fire!"
A loud whooshing sound echoed through the ship as the mini-ASB did its duty and went straight through the rebel's shield system, but right after that two laser shots smacked right into the door system and an empty room, starting a fire in the systemless room.

I've created Type C Hulls for the enemy Mantis, Slug, Rock, and Zoltan ships, and anyone can use these for a mod.
Check out the details here.

"We're venting the hall to snuff the flames. Stay in your posts."
The sound of whooshing blasted through the doors of the ship as the fire quickly dissipated.
"Okay. Fire the flak, the M-ASB will come through again soon. Their engine's on, shots inbound!"
A horde of flak showered Quintet's ship and the enemy went spinning through space. Their engine had blown up when it had been used it to fire flak from the broken wing, leaving them hopeless.
"They're critical! Fire at will!"
The M-ASB fired along with the flak, and the enemy ship put their one engine on full power and spun like a top, flinging themselves towards the long tip of the ship.
"I hope you know how to dodge an entire ship!"

Re: One final chance: An FTL-RP
Considering the distances between the two ships, a collision between a cripple enemy spaceship and a functional but slightly damaged cruiser seemed highly unlikely as Tabitha had moved the ship out of the way of such collisions due to it being space and space being big and thus space having plenty of room to move and shoot targets with without the need to get up close and personal like a cowboy shooting at the hip.
Tabitha explained as such when the crippled enemy ship spun itself to pieces as it was travelling in one direction on a predictable pattern far away from the cruiser.
"Holy crap, we need more engine power if I'm to dodge those shots though" she commented as another firing solution came up for Targon to finish off the enemy ship.
