Yeah, it seems there is no modding happening right now. Can someone please prove me wrong by using Grognak's without graphical errors?

Apparently, you failed to understand what I and UltraMantis wrote in reply to you.

You feel left out... but there is modding and playing without errors. Browse the mod pages and look at the screenshots. Look at videos of people playing modded ships.

Graphical errors are the result of broken resource files or mod conflicts. Those are solved by restoring original resources and reinstalling mods. In general most mods are designed to be a single patch, and not to be used alongside other mods.

So not only does the mod manager not work for me, it also totally wrecked my FTL, creating graphical glitches that remove all names but don't remove anything while transitioning between screens. I put the backup back on and it's still just as broken. Great.

Uninstall and delete everything from your FTL folder (best to just drag it into the bin). Install FTL, then GMM then mods. That ought to fix things, but they may break again.

I have never had an issue with using backups. FTL broke just like you described, i deleted everything in the resources folder and restored backups. FTL was clean and working again. I didn't bother reinstalling because i have normal FTL in it's usuall place and i copy/pasted it into a separate folder that i can use with mods installed. That copy broke down twice, and once i was the one to break it.

Without having a normal, clean copy of FTL to fall back to i would never use mods. Try to do the same.

I didn't even install any mods, though. It broke partway through the installation process and wrecked my copy ><

What installation process? You just unzip GMM into your FTL folder. It does not overwrite any files.
If you meant mod installation, GMM makes backup copies of the resource files before patching mods into the resources. If it fails along the way, then either the resources will be untouched or they will be broken but backups should have been created already.

Either way, reinstalling the game fixes the problem. Just delete everything before you reinstall.

I'm having an issue where the modder opens and shuts down about right away. I've installed it according to the readme and everything else I can find on here, but they didn't effect anything.

Let me explain in more detail. I downloaded v1.5 and installed it to my games folder, and when I found out the folder location was wrong, I moved it to the Steam folder. Now the folder is with the FTL folder and the shortcut itself is in the same location as FTLgame.exe. Now when I open the modder it will open a command script box, some text will quickly popup and the program immediately crashes.

This is what the box says:
C:\Program Files (86x)\Steam\Steamapps\common\FTL Faster Than Light

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 417, in <module>
File "D:\My Documents\projects\ftl mod man\build\pyi.win32\main\out00-PYZ.pyz\ConfigParser", line 368, in getbootlean
File "D:\My Documents\projects\ftl mod man\build\pyi.win32\main\out00-PYZ.pyz\ConfigParser", line 368, in get
ConfigParser.NoSectionError: No section: 'settings'

The game itself opens and runs just as it did before, so no issues there

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

The files may be in the wrong place.
When you open the downloaded zip, select all files then drag n drop them into your FTL folder (the one with FTLGame.exe). The second screenshot shows my FTL folder with GMM files highlighted.

I am probably going to get yelled at again, but.

I have noticed that there are a lot of repeated "I have this problem", I propose a "list" so to speak somewhere of known issues with GMM and fixes where applicable, as I have noticed at least 5 other posts with the same error I got ages ago and still no solution to it.

If you are wondering it's the error with the 8 string, and it appears to be happening on XP SP3, and Windows 7 from what I see.

EDIT: it seems, leaving it worked for my bug, I suggest anyone who has done it do a "delete folder" and then reinstall it and try the base freebie mod again, as that is what I technically did over the space of 2 months, including a few computer cleanups and usual restarts.

Also, my error and first post -- http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 295#p33295
