"Alcohol?" Translator asked "Isn't there regulations about drinking on duty or something about nanites being required?"
He then realised "Wait, that name gives you the chills? Have you two met before? I've met the Mantis myself. It was a fleet to fleet negotation. We defined a bit of territory and then I went back into hibernation for another fifty years..."

He said to himself "Or was it my base template? Hard to tell with cloning technology and memory sharing."

"Eh? Oh, if I sober up, I can say that Mantis suka`s name. Maybe I'll ask you, Romero. Got any booze?"

"No, I don't drink." Romero remarked, rubbing his eyes.

"Chyort voz`mi. Guess I will have to stop drinking for a bit. And to answer your question Translator, yes, I have met him. He is the worst Mantis ever. I didn't see him personally, just across a viewscreen."

Slava visibly shakes as he recalls that particular memory.

The A.I. suddenly spoke up "Interesting..."

"Am I hearing things, or did that AI just speak?" Wondered Slava "I don't know of any ships with an intelligent AI."

"Well, you've met one."

"This is just amazing."

"Most ship AIs are only intelligent enough to manage the most basic systems and power. But you can talk like a person? How is this possible?" Slava asked.
