Jake put the ship on red alert.

He shut down the various science experiments running on the sensors, but it was useless. All he could scan were variations in nebula gas concentration, and nothing more. Then, it hit him. Jake inched forward a little, poking the cockpit out of the cloud and into the less-dense area. Since the sensor modules were mounted to the cockpit, this meant that they were free from the compact area. So, the compact gases kept tageters from locking onto Jake, while Jake could scan the surrounding area.

Relative to Jakes view, the slug ship appeared far 'below' him. (But it's space... so...) He took aim now that the sensors were free, and fired at the cloaking system on the enemy ship. "What I want to know," Jake muttered. "Is how these Slug bastards got their hands on Cloaking technology"

The cloaking system turned to embers, and Jake let the weapons recharge, as the Slugs' FTL drive began to charge.

A scratchy transmission came in on the radio, "We don't know who you are, we don't care, just let us leave with our lives! Weapons like that are... unprecedented!"

In response, Jake fired at the Slugs piloting, and their FTL stopped charging. "Tell me how you got a cloaking system!" Jake said into the fizzling radio. "There's a Federation tech base, not too far from here. When we got there, it was disabled by an ion storm. Ships had picked it off, and most of it was already looted, but we were able to grab some unidentified system, and install it... It turned out to be a cloak!"

The info wasn't useful. Jake continued firing, and the Slug ship was badly damaged and disabled. No weapons, shields, or piloting.
"Please! Mercy! Mercy!" They cried.

"I can't afford mercy," Jake said. With a final shot, the Slug ship broke apart.

Next time someone else can be the hero... :mrgreen: It's cool to fight in more unconventional ways, in a Role Play. Also, where's WOL?
(you could have told us to go into there and let someone else tear him apart LOL)

Bren gave a sigh of relief as he watched the scrap float around.

"Great shooting Jake, sometimes makes me wish I rode on your ship instead of taking this one, but hey, gotta have multiple targets for the big mission, so you can be the hero" he said lightly chuckling

"I don't even think those Slugs would have made for a decent meal" Eden remarked, watching the Slug ship break apart on the screens.

Lux took a deep breath as the fires were quickly under control in life support.
"Door control is online. Initiating Emergency Vent Protocol 23" Eden announced.
"There's 23 venting protocols?" Lux asked.
"Just stay in Life Support. I'm going to ventilate pretty much the entire ship." Eden said, opening all the doors on the Pelican, except for the ones that led to inhabited rooms. Air drained very quickly and kept going down once the thermal readings started to fade.

Meanwhile, Lux was trying to fix up the Life Support with her multitool. "The damage looks rather extensive. A lot of holes in the pipes... Should we get someone over here to fix it up? Because I'm not sure..."
There was a ripping sound and suddenly one of the pirates had sealed up the damaged parts of the pipeline with a silver adhesive.
"It must have fallen off in combat when it got damaged" the pirate said.

"Pelican here... damage situation is under control, we're ready to move out" Eden said over the comms.

(also duct tape, its easier to make a list of the things it can't do)

WOL, when you're back from the dead, just let us know! :mrgreen: Right now WOL is lying in the medbay, recovering. His damage was extreme.

"I assume everyone is clear to go," Jake said. "If not, we move out to the next beacon." Silence.

"Ok, prepare for joint-FTL jump!" Jake shouted, smiling. He relayed the coordinates, and they were off to the next beacon.

When they arrived, it was more nebula. Suddenly, Sarah appeared, with some information.

"With this ship, you can never tell what's already been damaged" Eden said.
"After what I just saw in life support, I wouldn't be surprised if this ship was held together with modelling clay and duct tape" Lux commented as the crew had just put in large chunk of the Slug ship into the cargo hold and secured the doors. The Pelican then prepared to jump.

When they arrived at the next beacon in the middle of an ion storm, they were surprised to see the wreckage of a Rebel battlegroup, with black hole weapons clearly visible on some ships, being salvaged by a large number of small salvage drones.
Sarah answered the question that everyone was thinking. "Radiological analysis indicates that the Rebel ships were destroyed by multiple several-megaton thermonuclear weapons. Analysis of the surrounding nebula suggests a blast radius of 500 meters, with the EMP reaching a further kilometer. If we were to get caught in the blast of one of those, it would easily destroy the ship. If we were to just get caught by the EMP, all electronics on the ship would be completely destroyed, taking out all systems, including life support, and leaving us a sitting duck for whoever launched them at us.
Just to be clear, there are no missiles,
nuclear or otherwise, within sensor range

Then, a projectile appeared out of the nebula. Before anyone could react, it shredded the Mutare's Purple Shield and punched through the hull, barely missing the main reactor and coming out the other side with no detected decrease in its destructive potential. Sarah looked shocked. "If we did not have the Purple Shield, that would have gone straight through the main reactor, completely destroying the ship."

"Damn it, trying to scan, I can't see what fired it!" Bren cried out panicking a bit, if their best ship could be brought to its knees so to speak who knows what it would do to an outdated hunch of junk he was flying

Just to be clear, the attacking ship is at a distance that would make it hard to detect even if it was not in a nebula

Unclear: Can we go into the wreckage and salvage a Black Hole weapon? Or do we just have to escape?
