Unfortunately it is not 100% successful but it can also adversely effect your entire machine. With or without the /3GB switch, Windows allocates the same amount of ram, evenly divided between application space and kernel space. All the switch does is tell the memory manager that applications can cross the boundary and use some of the ram allocated for the kernel. The danger here is you can potentially run out of space for memory mapping (drivers, etc.) in the kernel leading to system instability.
Yeah exactly. You need to download a tool and do some things to modify your computer.
As I've said before, it's like using a nuclear reactor to power a toaster. I'm very much wary of using external software to do one thing and one thing only as this problem is unlikely to occur on other games.

Well, to be fair the game was never intended to load that many assets as it does with EL installed. You can't really blame the defs for handling assets that way, as it worked just fine for vanilla and minimizes loading times ingame. An again, FTL was never intended to be modded. I'd still wish that EL would work smoothly for everyone (we even planned multiple prefixes on weapons, which would have resulted in an exponentially higher amount of assets) but there is nothing that can be done about it.

So yeah, as mentioned in the troubleshooting section and the discussion: Endless Loot may not work for everyone. It is possible that you can't use it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think all possible problems are covered in the troubleshooting section right before the downloads. A separate thread would be possible, but might just as well complicate things further (do we have to shout at people each time someone posts problems here instead of the troubleshooting thread?). Personally I don't mind people asking their questions here, it's kind of the logical place to go.

Oh wow, thats kind of neat. I don't fully understand how the game handles the different layers of the crew image (skin, hair, uniform...) Does each of these bytes controls one of the layers? (human crew has four layers in CE)

And I have one question about those drones. Am I preventing them from doing smth? Because their shot and missed shot are the same thing and didn't do anything to me. I'm just curious what they do usually?

Also looking through the code for Slug events, there seems to be this Slug event I've never seen before in ever (so I'm assuming it's a CE event)... but a Slug asks you to swear allegiance to the Empire and they'll guide you through the nebula or something but there doesn't seem to be a follow-up event if you do pledge to them.

There's plenty of choices I think involving your combat augments though if you say "Screw your pledge, I'm Federation, fool!"
Was the whole event chain commented out due to being incomplete or was it just an oversight since no one is ever going to visit a Slug Sector (considering just many bugs are left unreported in those places alone!)

Also, is the one where a Slug teleports one of your crew onboard their ship to be enslaved, is that also in there? And if so, why does the Advanced Plating work at counteracting the Mind Control but not say... a Mind Control device or a Hacking device? Leftovers from Pre-AE?

Yeah I guess right now I'm obsessed with figuring out Slug events rather than Out Of Fuel events :lol:

I'm not quite sure yet. When you create two SAV files, changing only the character in the first slot of the "Kestrel Type-A", the only bytes that change between files in regards to that one character are 41 and 45 after the race name.

Unfortunately when you add crew using the profile editor, these bytes seem to correspond to something else because while changing them will change the uniform, it also flips the "mind control" bit causing your added crew to kill eachother.

It would help if there was a complete file format spec because I think the one on the wiki is outdated.

Edit 2015-02-21: I updated the SAV editing guide so the mind control bug is not an issue. From what I can tell, CE only flips two bytes for crew outfits.

I am getting a blank white screen at the intro and when I play enemy ships are missing or glitched.

*I HAVE ALREADY LOOKED AT TROUBLESHOOTING AND ENSURED MYLOAD ORDER IS CORRECT*

I have FTL 1.5.13. SMM 1.6 windows 7

My load order

-CE Resources pack 1.27
-FTL Captains edition 1.272

that's it

I have tried uninstalling-reinstalling everything. Nothing seems to work. I always get the white screen.

Please help? I would really appreciate it

I'm unable to reproduce your problem. Allocating more memory to FTL might work if your computer is rather old. Re-downloading the mod files might also help.

They are mostly there for show and to unsettle the player. If you want to discover what they do I recommend checking out the special tech offered by nebula weapon traders. ;)

CE Update 1.273
- Added a couple new out-of-fuel events
- Fixed wrong buying price for Religious Rock Literature
- "worrying radiation" coming from your medical unit now also affects your clonebay
- Mind Controll now allows to counter Slug kidnaping attempts
- Fixed gib offsets for auto constructor platforms
- Auto ships in asteroid fields will no longer try to escape into asteroid fields
- Some small fixes

I clarified that on the Patreon page and in the video, but just to be absolutely clear: The mod is free to use and none of its users should feel obliged to do anything other than enjoying it (or swearing at it once things get sour). The Patreon is merely a tip-jar.

Apparently we traded supplies before the attack but nothing happened.
Not sure if you're supposed to get nothing or not but it can't harm to mention it.
This might have been on version 1.272 though... So might already be fixed.
Also there's a typo somewhere misspelling beacon as bacon. Mmmm... bacon.
Might want to leave that one in. :lol:

I think I pointed that one out and I think it was the Crystal Bacon.
But it could have been some other bacon you've discovered. If only one of the Crystal names you can get from the stasis pod was Kevin... I don't like how Ruwen is no longer 100% guranteed as a name yet you can pick up many Kasmir and Pamuks from the Zoltan monastery if you keep it up on CE Infinite.

I once rescued an Engi from the Horse Planet and what do you know, the name it had was Discord. Why would he want to get off the planet is anyone's guess. (I know the Discord is short for a longer name but come on, it had to have been a coincidence!)
