Bren sighed a bit heading out of the cockpit, he went to the kitchen area and grabbed a ration bar from the storage.

'Damn it, was hoping for at least a day when shit doesn't have to hit the fan" he said

"Shit?" Ruwen asked, he was right behind him

"Oh um shit is umm...how you say feces, excrement" he said

"Ah I see...and a fan?" Ruwen asked

"umm a spinning thing that would form cool heat, its something a lot of races use when its too hot" he explained

"That...makes sense, so when "shit" hits the fan it spins around and flings and gets everywhere, I can see how you would not want that to happen" Ruwen said realizing what he meant, while Bren munched on the bar

"So what do you eat?" he asked

'Our species subsists on minerals in rocks and organic material, we prefer rocks, in fact the war with the metal eaters started because they would take rocks that had high qualities of iron in them, iron we needed to develop our young" he explained

"Now thats a problem" Bren said holding up the bar, 'Wanna try it, it does have all the nutrients for an average spacer" he said

Ruwem grabbed it and took a bite...then shook his head, "Tastes, incredibly terrible" he said

'Didn't know rockmen or crystals had taste" he said

"We do, but that, even organic material isn't as bad" He said giving back the bar, Bren took the bit and shrugged his shoulders a bit, "Well next place we stop I'll try and get you some good rocks to munch on ok" he said

Several of the Pelican's crew were outside the ship, working on fixing the engines and getting them back into alignment after the black hole's distortions had partially warped them.
Meanwhile, Eden and Lux went to one of the cargo bays to commence "training."
"For the first few days, we're going to be practising jaw movement. You're going to have to learn how to dislocate and relocate it quickly..." Eden demonstrated it. Her mouth seemed to stretch rather wide before it snapped back into place. She did it a few times before grabbing a small cylinder and forcing it down her throat. Her neck seemed to expand to accommodate the object until it distended her gut.
"So... it's like a snake?" Lux asked, walking around the strange woman, still finding it hard to believe what she had just witnessed.
"Exactly. Now keep in mind that this is not exactly something to be used in battle. Fruits are safer than people armed with a pointed stick." Eden explained, patting her gut. "You should only eat volunteers, people who are disarmed or cadavers. Not even my stomach can take a knife blade to it... or a blaster shot."
"Will this process hurt?" Lux asked "The jaw dislocation sounds painful"
"It will be, but you'll eventually get used to it. You'll also never eat food the same way ever again" Eden added as they got to training...

I might just gloss over training as the fleet travels and Lux gives out status updates. Just wanted to lay down a few things on the process.

If I were you, I'd just state key parts of the training prpcess, when they come along. Don't do every single day, but explain changes and developments in training.

Jake let out a sigh of relief when they rattled out of FTL, and normally shaped stars appeared in the window.

"This is Fleet Commander Jake Collins calling all hands. We have escaped from the black hole, with our lives." He said into the radio, for everyone to hear. He could hear cheering echoing from throughout the ship.

"As far as repairs, first priority is sensors. Once we get those back online, we'll eliminate any fires onboard. Then we'll fix Life Support, followed by the rest of the ship."

The crew got to work. Under normal circumstances, he wouldve helped with repairs. But hell, he'd just escaped a Black Hole. He deserved a break.

Kyrie had been pulled to one wall front the intense gravity. She got up in the dark and felt around for the door, but it was dark outside too. The lights came back on suddenly, but the shields were still offline. What's wrong with them now? Kyrie bent down and took off a few panels, then started trying to figure out the future systems.

"And I wouldn't know how to repair your ship anyway" Ruwen added over the coms, "Although, I still that have repair drone in storage, saving it for a rainy day, does your ship have a drone bay, that might help?" Bren offered

While waiting for someone to respond, Jake scanned the beacon. It was completely empty, save for a few battered ships also escaping the weapon. They kept their distance, for they too had their own problems to worry about.

Bren came in over the comms. Jake wondered why Bren could not provide assistance. He said that he was keeping everyonw safe, but Jake couldn't see how. There was nothing to be afraid of. Maybe he just meant that the Robin was damaged too, and he had to deal with the Robins damage.

Jake replied on the comms. "Copy that, Bren. Robin A, have you sustained significant damage? Because if you have damage, you'll need that repair drone. Send it over once your done. Pelican, do you copy? Are you able to assist in repairs?'

"You've already got my Bosun helping you out" Eden said over the comms "He's one of the best at fixing up damaged hulls and engines. We've got our own repairs; our engines are not exactly good at handling spaghettification"
Bosun Morgan chimed in "I'll see what I can do about engine repairs; yours might be some fancy thing from the future but a hull is a hull."

I knew Jake could make it, Lux thought, But is it a good idea to stay here for long? We're just one jump away from where the black hole wiped out an entire station!

Bren responded, "I literally have only me and Ruwan on board here, everyone either wanted to join Canibils or the cool future ship, no we haven't sustained any damage, well the sensors are a bit screwed up, but nothing a reboot can't fix" Bren said, "really what I need is more crew, or something, problem is hiring mercs is dicey, never know which ones won't just back stab ya for more money" he said, now mentally regretting not taking Gordan along, part of him hoped he got out alright.

(no not saying I wanted him along, it kinda works for the character that maybe he does care about some slugs)
