It was more like a FML but anyway, I was playing on my ship and I turned off the o2 so I could put a little more power on my engine after the ship is destroyed and everything I closed all the doors since they tried to board me and expected to have o2 sweep right back. I then charge my human towards the medbay, she dies on the way because of lack of o2 and I was wondering why it didn't come back. Then my engi died on the way to the medbay. My rock crew member also asphyxiated on his way to the medbay.
By now I see the o2 thingy off and turn it back on while my last crew member is in the medbay. After the oxygen fills the ship I head to the next beacon, dying two beacons later while searching for the goddamn stores.

Re: Your "Fuck you, FTL" Moments
Just now, I had level 7 engines and got hit by the flagships missile 15 times in a row. GG RNG, GG. I actually streamed it to twitch, but for some reason twitch won't show me the archive of it.

Re: Your "Fuck you, FTL" Moments
On sector 3 with Engi A, at the exit beacon. Encounter an AI drone with...
level 2 shields
mind control
dual heavy laser
burst laser 2
So total of 5 lasers, perfectly synchronized so the 2 heavy shots come right after the 3 regular shots.
With the first salvo, my shields are damaged from 2 to 1, and my drone system taken out. Next salvo takes out weapons and oxygen.
Take 13 damage and dead before I can even get away... well, I got away, but died from one of the 3 fires taking out my last hull point. Door system was broke too, couldn't vent the shield room.

Enemy with 2 shield layers in Sector 3.
I'm in Fed A with only my level 2 Artillery Cannon and the starting Burst Laser. I have 2 layers of shields (level 5, so an added buffer against damage) and level 4 Engines with fully upgraded helm but only semi-upgraded engine room guy.
Fine. Target shield room.
He has a fast-charging Heavy Laser and a missile launcher. Both weapons fire before my Burst Laser can charge.
First laser shot misses, then the missile hits my O2 (upgraded, fortunately, so still operational).
My return fire: Hit, hit, miss just as I'm about to do hull damage.
Next volley.
His first laser shot hits (not that it matters), then so does the missile. Empty room, but it's next to the Artillery Beam and it set a fire. Vent 4 rooms to shut the flames down, and breathe a sigh of relief.
My return fire: Miss, hit, hit. Fine. Let my hit 3 times in a row, PLEASE?
Next volley.
Laser misses, then missile hits. Again. This time damaging my shield room (lucky it's only 1 damage).
My shots are hit, miss, hit.
Next volley
First, MY ARTILLERY BEAM. Which fires into a room near one corner of the enemy ship, but moves out into the corner, only hitting 2 rooms, one of which is his drone room that only provides a single defense drone (and isn't damaged enough to disable that drone even if I cared to kill it) and the other is empty. Seriously? WTF game?
Then his weapons fire and once again, both hit. The missile hits my engines this time, so that's fun.
My Burst Laser fires, and this time, I get miss, miss and more miss.
Please, game, let this be the one where I actually hurt him?
It's drawn out enough that he actually gets 2 volleys before my next shot. His first round of fire results in his missile damaging my shield room again, but I'm not too worried because I still have a layer of shields and the first set of damage has almost been repaired by now. I'm starting to regret trusting a Mantis to repair the shields though. The next missile hits my O2 again, destroying the room. And I've been keeping it powered down for more of the fight than I've had it operational. I'm down to 60% oxygen already. I rush my Engi down from the weapons room to fix this, because it's kind of important right now. Once my shields are back to 2 layers, I drop my Mantis in to help out.
My return fire is, once again, 2 hits and a miss.
It's not until my next Artillery Beam fires that I actually damage the enemy's shield room, which drops them to 1 shield layer, and from that point, the fight goes smoothly. Best part? When I finally hit the engine room, it only took one laser hit to destroy the engines. They did all that with only ONE power to their engines.
But wow, was it hell getting to that point.
FINAL NOTE: The
smiley indicates the point where I actually yelled at my laptop. Thinking back on that fight now, I can laugh. At the time, if someone else had laughed, I'd have been sorely tempted to punch them in the face.

Haha. Flak II on enemy ship, all other weapons disabled. My ship got 45% evasion and 4 shields. Flak II fires and instakills all three full-health Zoltans in the shield room, causing four hull damage. Don't ask me how three shots can cause four damage, but that's what it did. Lost half my crew through a single shot, and three reactor bars to boot.

Re: Your "Fuck you, FTL" Moments
Level 4 engines, fully upgraded pilot and engine room guys. 45% evade chance. Level 6 shields (3 layers). Dual Lasers, Ion Stunner, Heavy Ion and Heavy Laser I on my Fed Cruiser B. My Artillery Beam is at level 3, so that's a shot every 30 seconds as well. I also have Medbay and O2 upgraded. I only have level 4 weapon system, so I start the fight with the Heavy laser deactivated (if I get unlucky and only land 1 Ion hit, that should still give me a chance of getting damage through with the Dual Laser
Enemy ship (Lanius) has a single-shot laser, a 2-shot laser, and a 2-damage missile launcher.
I have enough shields to tank all their laser shots at once, only need to worry about the missiles. And with 45% evade chance, I should be able to cope, right?
Oh, they have a cloak and a teleporter as well? That makes things a little tougher, but SHOULD still be manageable.
Except that the RNG says I miss with both my Ions in my first AND second volleys firing at the ship, while all their lasers miss, but the first missile hits my shields and knocks one layer out, then their second hits my weapons and disables the Heavy Ion. For a while, every missile they fire is hitting critical systems. Shields, weapons, engines, helm... All the lasers are missing, but that's not really reassuring. The first boarding party appeared in the shield room, got wounded, then teleported away. The second attacked and managed to force me to retreat from the engines, letting them kill those off (already damaged from missiles). Their third boarding attack arrived in the Artillery beam room when that was literally my only weapon that was doing anything.
At first, this is starting to look like your run-of-the-mill bad RNG luck.
Then... then the real BS moment hit.
Lanius cloaked.
Interrupted cloak to fire.
RECLOAKED BEFORE I COULD FIRE AGAIN.
My two still-functional weapons had 10 second base charge time with a maxed-out weapon operator to shorten that. Cloak cooldown is 20 seconds. Both of them had been at half-charge before the Lanius cloaked.
And while it was cloaked, with at most a level 2 cloak (because I'd finally managed to damage the ship with my Artillery Beam by this point, it was the only thing that could reach their hull), they managed to fire again, this time WITHOUT interrupting their cloak.
So... basically the game decided RNG BS wasn't enough, and decided to throw whatever the *#&$ it likes at me in addition to things that actually make sense.
(yes, I lost. Obviously)

I think I've figured it out. FTL will teach me how to lose. Not necessarily how to game over, but how to successfully take one for the team, and come back fighting later. I'll just keep thinking that. FTL will teach me how to lose. FTL will teach me how to lose. FTL will teach me how to lose.
Edit: Also that was my highest scoring run with the Kestrel. Literally all my other Win Condition/High Success runs were with the Engi Cruiser A, Zoltan Cruiser or Stealth Cruiser. I have no idea how to direct confrontation.

Re: Your "Fuck you, FTL" Moments
I just had a fairly unique FUCK YOU FTL moment. After thinking I've seen every way a good run can suddenly go to shit, I just found out a new rather devious way to die.
I was doing a fairly successful run with Engi B, in that I had good weapons and systems but still hadn't gotten lucky with new crew members, I had only managed to amass a crew of three so far. I ran into a late game battle with a slug ship where it hacks your oxygen at the start of the battle (not using a hacking system but as part of the event text so u can't break the hack unless you win or fly away).
It was a tricky battle as the slug had 4 shields, high engines and mind control. I wasn't quite ready for 4 shields, but I was able to get his shields down to zero and then use a fire drone to start fires in his ship.
The battle took a while and I was getting on top of the enemy, I had knocked all his weapons out and medbay, and there was a massive fire in ship slowly moving through and all his guys were cowering on the other end of the ship with low health. Unfortunately, I got caught up in watching the fire sweep through his ship that I wasn't paying attention to my oxygen. Suddenly all my guys are all beeping health alerts and I rush them all to the medbay. I only have level one medbay so while the guys stay alive inside the medbay their health remains in the red zone. I have zero oxgyen in the ship, and Engi B only has a two person medbay, but I manage to keep my third person alive by micromanaging him to move back and forward through the medbay without exiting. I can't fly out because the helm has zero oxygen and sending a guy there will kill him. However, the situation seems still survivable as the enemy ship is about to go down in flames, and then I will get my oxygen restored. So I keep micromanaging the third guy and keep everyone alive and wait for the fire to take out the enemy's last remaining bar of hull.
Only suddenly the enemy ship's mindcontrol cycles up (one of the guys has repaired it and it is the only system NOT on fire) and it freaken MINDCONTROLS one of my guys in the medbay (the human pilot who was closest to the medbay and got inside it with a bit more health than the others). He turns around and quickly kills both my other engi crewmembers in one hit each. Then, because he is now considered an enemy crew, the medbay no longer heals him or keeps him alive... so he proceeds to suffocate a few seconds later. Three dead in a couple seconds due to possible the worst moment to get mind-controlled.
Game over because of zero crew. Unbelievable. What a moment to find out the medbay won't heal mind-controlled crew.

Re: Your "Fuck you, FTL" Moments
rock cruiser. ran out of missiles by third sector. maybe it was sexond.. found breach missile launcher. no guns. i also was running out of fuel. finally found a store ans bought a usless ion weapon.
i had fully upgraded engines pretty fast at least. it was normal edition so i didnt get hacked
final sector i died against boss in first fight after purposefully running to the repair stations JUST for missiles.
if ramming was added, rock ship with full engines be a real tactic. i think this run was only 40 minutes. funny part was im on easy and honestly thought my breach - hull missiles weapons would be enuf to take down the first phase.
i lose because i didnt upgrade shields. oh and finally talked to the envoy quest correctly. my only lessons out of this
