You guys should wait for WOL, now. He hasn't posted in 3 pages, I think. Also: Please note. The "Metal Eaters" have not really been discovered.
They roam the Abandoned Sector, and do not leave. If Ruwen knows about 'em, he must've been to the Abandoned Sector. The entire Federation has absolutly no knowlege of Metal Eaters, beyond the sparse rumors of less-than-credible sources. Just a thought: If Ruwen knows about the Metal Eaters, he's been to the Abandoned Sector. Where are we trying to go? The Abandoned Sector. What's in the Abandoned Sector? Rebels. What do the Rebels have? Black Hole Induction technology. From his time in the Abandoned Sector, Ruwen may be able to guide us there - and tell us a bit about Black Hole Induction.

EDIT: Those few who do know about the Metal Eaters consider them beasts. Non-sentiant violent monsters.

this is from centuraries ago when the Crystals and the Lainus had their own empires, thanks to their war sadly they lost their power, the "metal eaters" becoming nomadic scavengers hiding in wait until they send a good amount of metal to devour and the Crystals hiding in their own sector to lick their owns.

Sounds good! Just remember. The Lanius are shrouded in mystery. The Federation has no idea of their existence, in the present. :geek:

The ship was smooth as it travelled up through the atmosphere. Not a single quiver or shake. Auto-stabilizers on steroids... Jake thought as he managed to figure out the overly-complex interface, enough to take the ship into orbit. He exited atmo and was in orbit about the planet - its cracked orange surface shrinking away below him.

Jake got on the radio. Or at least, he thought it was radio. When he opened a channel a robotic voice said. "Error: Federation Infonet Not Found"
Jake assumed this was some kind of Federation comm network. He read about it in Space Travel of The Future. A ridiculous idea to bounce, magnify, and amplify specialized Gamma Transmissions using the reflective powers of the surfaces of planets. The idea was to bounce a transmission off of entire planets, allowing the signal to reverberate across the surface. In this way, it would create a massive network of interstellar data coverage. Heck, maybe the idea wasn't so crazy after all.

On the overhead display, the current pane was called "Federation Infonet" displaying a "Connectivity Rating" of "0.0%," which was labeled as "Insufficient." He switched to the next pane, called "Basic Comm." That sounded promising. Jake opened a channel, and familiar transmission sounds crackled to life. He switched to the Robins frequency, and began broadcasting. Normally, at these distances Jake would need to send a Data Packet transmission. (Used for communication between Jump Beacons) But he saw on a diagram that the range of Basic Comm was sufficient to cover the next beacon over! Phenomenal, really. Say goodbye to frustrating little Data Packets! All you have to do is wait 400 years! Jake thought.

"This is Jake Collins of the..." Jake realized he didn't know what this ship was called. Due to the logs being wiped, no one did. And while the name should be painted on the side, the entire hull was covered with burns and scotches. Jake decided to make up a name! "USS Mutare" Jake chose this name because it was a word his father taught him. There was this ancient dead Earthen language called "Latin." And a direct translation of the word "Change" is "Mutare." Jake knew this mission would change things - so Mutare seemed appropriate.

"This is captain Jake Collins of the USS Mutare, calling the Robin A - do you copy? I have acquired our new ship. Repeat. Captain Jake Collins calling the Robin A..."

The Mantis/Fed conflict would go under item #1 on the timeline... pre Rebel War. So I guess the Robin A is a Federation ship in the Mantis war! That would make sense, the Robin is a retired (and outdated) warship from the Mantis War.

Over with the Robin A, "Huh, what the..." Bren got a message from Jake, "Jake...how...my sensors aren't picking up any ships, are you stealthed?" he asked unaware of the new tech they had access too

WOL was still in the Engine room. Right now, he had no idea what was currently happening onboard the direlect ship, progress was halted, as indicated by sensors, but weather this was good or bad was unknown to him. Only the flight deck had an established two way communication, he shouldn't ask Bren. "Bren, how're things going with exploration?" He said.

Before a response was given, they were suddenly hailed by a mysterious ship. WOL checked the sensors, no other ships had appeared, other than the one they were currently exploring, and their own. A voice rang out of the intercom, Jake's. Wait, Jake's! He had nearly forgotten, Jake had stayed behind to retrieve the new ship.

Suddenly, a familiar feeling came rushing back to WOL.

Bren was confused, "Jake how am I talking to you, you aren't even anywhere close to our beacon"

"What is going on out there?" Lux asked over the comms.
She looked back to Ruwen "Is your ship operational, or do you need to hitch a ride with us?" she asked the Crystal "Because I'm sure we can make room for you."
