"An ancient Rock ship?" Lux asked "Don't you mean a normal Rock ship, because I think even their most modern vessels are older than this ship by a few decades?"
Dad said they built things to last as long or even longer than they do, she thought to herself, amused.

She nodded "Well, I say we check it out but be careful... our deflectors and artificial gravity systems tend to attract asteroids towards us and it looks like there are some pretty large rocks in the vicinity. We should make it quick."

"Alright then, Lux you ok with taking the helm on this while I lead a couple of us into here?" he asked

The strange ship looked more like a collection of broken glass shards than a ship. Still, the beacon was coming from it.

"I'll go on the ship." Kyrie had always wanted to explore an unknown ship. Her older brothers had told her about empty ships they had encountered just floating in space. Those stories were one of the many reasons she had gone into the federation academy.

Although if I don't know how to help an Engi, how would I be able to help a Rockman? I'm a doctor not a sculptor, she thought to herself, chuckling in amusement at the prospect.
She looked at Bren and Kyrie who probably wanted to know. "Was just thinking of where Rockmen come from. Do they carve their children out of a quarry?"

He blinked a bit and then put his fingers to his chin in thought

"I don't know, do rockmen even have a gender...I've never had the chance to ask one how it works, Zoltans have a gender but its in the form of positive or negative ions being more present in either male or female zoltans...but no idea how living rock could have difference in gender" he said

"So Lux you want to head out with Kyrie, I admit I do want to investigate but if you think your skills would be more useful go ahead' he said, 'I'll make sure no asteroids hit us"

With those words he moved through the field, 20 minutes of flying later and avoiding asteroids, having a few new misses they found it...

"Umm guys...you are seeing this right?" he asked

What they found looked like a huge hunk of crystal embedded into a large asteroid floating in the vacume in space.

"The signal is coming from that, umm I think I'm sensing an electronic signiture, its very weak, might be an ancient rock ship" Bren offered, 'They do like putting rocks on their ships"

WOL regarded the ship with fascination. He had never seen anything like it before, which is strange considering that he lived on a research vessel for 10 Years of his life. The phenomena was so unusual, that it managed to satiate him for the time being.

It was similar to other rock vessels, but instead sported crystalline shards in place of stone. It was strange, almost otherworldly, to say that WOL was curious was an understatement, he just HAD to find out what secrets it held.

"Well this is certainly strange to say the least, I vote in favor of exploring it. I'll be in the engine room to make sure that no stray astroids hit the ship."

Again, they're rarely seen and therefore less likely to tell us Humans their health issues, she thought to herself.

So how are we getting to the ship? A close flyby with the ship and an airlock transfer or will the shuttle be used?

(I'd say the shuttle, and yes obviously this the crystal ship, but I think if we play smart like we are doing now we might get both the weapon and our new friend LOL)
