Did you make sure that the modman.exe was selected, not the .jar file?

Aha this may be the problem, although I have no modman.exe, since windows 8 I thought that the .jar file was the modman.exe. Well, nother problem I don't have modman.exe. All I have is the txt files, jar file, backup, mods and the modman "application" Is that what I should have? I tried opening the modman "application" before, but I still cant.

I suppose that it is the .exe -- there's just nothing else it can be. It is puzzling, however, that you are unable to run it. Perhaps it's another limitation Win8 imposes on its users...

- First of all, make sure that your account actually has full admin privileges.
- I assume that it does, so try checking the properties of the .exe, and seeing if there's any option that has anything to do with permissions, etc, and if there is, make sure that the .exe is authorised to actually run (Ubuntu has a somewhat similar safeguard, though I think it only pertains to script files)
- Alternatively, try shift-right-clicking on the .exe -- at least in Win7, doing so brings up additional options in the context menu, so maybe it'll give you the option to run the exe as admin. Another option could be "Run as another user" -- try that as well, if it's available.
- Another option would be to open command line with admin rights, and then run the manager's .jar from the terminal, but that won't work if you can't run the CL as admin, either...

Other than that, output of modman-log.txt could be very helpful in troubleshooting the other issues.

Yes, I have admin powers on my own computer.
I've checked the properties, but no permissions or anything.
Shift right click doesn't help.
Last step, idk how to do.
God damn this is annoying.

If everything else fails, you can always download a *real* operating system in liveCD/DVD/USB variant (some GNU/Linux), and use Linux version of slipstream mod manager - without getting rid of your other favorite system, that is giving you such headache. As a side effect, booting Linux from live medium just do so such simple task may be the proton-in-the-nucleus that will make you abandon ridiculous Microsoft products and switch to FOSS operating system altogether. Of course, it's absolutely up to you.

Thanks for the help, although this is a big task and to be honest, I'd rather not have smm than doing this.

There is no way to open as administrator because you know windows 8. Right clicks modman.exe and nothing, just the usual rename and stuff.

The attachment below is a special exe that will try to run as admin, without needing to right-click.

Extract and drop it in the SMM folder and double-click. *crosses fingers*
