I personally like this idea..

Drop the full view of the star map, and only provide a generic circle around the exit.. (the exit is somewhere inside the circle.. the circle's radius 1-2 jumps).

The same approach would be done for Quest Markers.

The player ship has a set visibility around it. The map remembers what has been seen. (aka, Fog of War).

New Augment --> Astrometric Sensors
Allows you to see more into space.. Expands your visibility, so you can make sure you are more efficient in your jump travel..
