Just for funsies I am playing a game on easy. I'm in sector 5. I've been fighting rebels a lot and not a one has had an ASB helping them out.

ASB in sector 1, on the first rebel ship, on EASY. I think the team overdid it a bit.
The reason why it was added is to stop point farming because a low sector run where you destroyed a lot of rebels was worth more than getting to the final boss ? The highscores are local and if people want to get high points that way, then let them, or balance the ASB so it only appears after fighting the 2nd, 4th or 6th(depending on difficulty) rebel and not on the first one because I had to take a extra jump. The rebels alone are already very strong, with good equipment, weapons, drones and medbays, I try to escape them and to avoid them but I can't do much if the beacon map spawns bad beacons or if I run out of fuel.

Yeah later in that same game I met another rebel that had an ASB. I think they don't have them at the exit beacon but do at other beacons.

But anyway, my point stands. Run from the rebels like you actually fear them and you'll be fine. You've already got a ton more scrap and easier enemies. Being forced to not farm the tail ends of 7 sectors for even more seems totally reasonable to me.

This isn't going to help the OP's argument, but I got a friendly ASB in sector one. So the game isn't totally unfair. :lol:

Still doesn't changes the fact that ASB is totally OP and unfair. I never played the game on easy but that's not the point really, it's a too powerful weapon with no chance of avoidance... And no, dodge chance doesn't afects it as far as I can tell. I never got a dodge on it. The moment it locks, I take the hit. This creates an incredible annoyance because many times I either have to jump out several jumps before time Since the star seeding now is goddamn aweful and often I end up with only one path that leads to the exit (all else is too far away), or I miss quests because then I have to fight 2 or 3 beacons of rebel fleet. Even just a wrong jump get you in trouble and very likely dead.

Again there was a simple way to stop points farming if that was the problem. Just make elite rebel ships give 0 points.

Early elite rebel ships are tough unless you get a really good start.

Mid game elite rebel ships are tough too because they have high shields and more weapons than you.

Late game elite rebel ships are far more dangerous than the flagship.

There was no need to mess with a mechanic that was never broken in the first place.

Eff dodge chance, that thing bypasses zoltan shielding!

I dodge it ALL THE TIME. Well not literally, but as often as I dodge a Hermes missile. Which means my normal dodge chance but it never feels that way.

Once I have a cloak and a level 4/5 engine, I happily meet the rebels at the exit after farming the beacons after it for extra scrap. Cloak a little after the alert (It comes a lot earlier than other alerts) and you'll dodge it every time if you're at 100% or more, or pretty much every time if you're at like 98% dodge. And if your dodge is in the 40-55% range you DO have about a 50/50 chance of dodging the shot even without a cloak.

Yeah I don't run ships with cloak and I hardly start with the stealth cruiser cause I absolutly hat it. Grinded it till I had the B version and no more cause again, hate that thing... Still probably will have to grind both of the at a point to get the crytal cruiser.

Anyways, yeah, never a dodge, even on 4 engines so there you go. Maybe I just am that unlucky but still. ASB is completly unfair. However bear in mind there are 2 kinds of unfair. Unfair hard/fun and unfair unbalanced. ASB is the later and sucks quite a bit of fun, that along with the new seeding of stars. I dunno why but ever since AE, about half the star systems have only one way to the exit and I either take it and lose possibly a couple of beacons cause there are no more to explore or I go off the beaten path, but to return I have to go through several fleet beacons.

I had a 35% evade chance the first time I encountered an ASB shooting at me.

I took a hit, barely survived, then got shot at again by it.

I assumed, because it's treated as an environmental hazard, it wouldn't let me dodge, and when I saw the lock warning I thought "this is it".

Then it fired and I saw "MISS" streak across the screen in the background.

So... yeah, it misses. After that, I thought I had time to kill the enemy ship before the next shot fired. I stuck around instead of running. That didn't work out so well for me. :roll:

Moral of the story: Don't let the fleet catch up with you. And you can dodge the ASB if you're lucky and have decent engines.

I try to avoid the fleet as much as I can, but if I have to fight it once, I want that to be a fair fight at least(Their better gear isn't the problem). The ASB completely destroys that(that's why it should only happen on the 3rd or 4th fight in a row and not randomly. Easy doesn't help with it and it can still happen on sector 1 on the first fight. Cloaking Helps if you have it, makes the shots almost always miss.
