i was wondering this myself. Also i was one of the $100 backers, so im not sure how i would retrieve the extra key for my friend. or if he would even need it since he had the beta already in steam

I was just a $10 backer, but I've logged 35 hours and unlocked a bunch of ships, hate to have that disappear on me.

So I have a really really dumb question, if I'm buying the game as a gift from the devs website. When I tick the little "I'm buying this as a gift" box, do I still put in my e-mail address or the friends I'm getting it for?

Even if you accidentally get his gift e-mail, you can still forward it to him. It will be a one-time use code where he'll put in his e-mail.
