I've looked at the data files and I'm pretty sure all the Homeworlds are flagged as "unique". Hence, you should never see more than one (of the same homeworld) in the same game.

Hey loch, keep on going! today i just unlocked the crystal cruiser and was super happy. Are you playing on easy and as the rock type B?
Hopefully so. Unlocking this ship is amazingly satisfing, may the RNG be with you!
Are you a mantis? Do you lack ships to fight and Zoltans to chew? Look no further! Come to your nearest mantis warcamp in the Zoltan Homeworlds or Zoltan controled sector and ask for a free brochure about how to farm the Zoltan! Results may very.

Nice going Agg!!!

I have been taking a few days off from the cold depths of space because well... my first son should be coming into the world in about three days!!!

I hopefully will have that Crystal Ship by his sixteenth birthday though so I can give him to the keys to it and let him go out and travel the universe in style!

Good hunting to all of you!

CAPTAIN'S LOG - STARDATE 3-7-13

Well my good captains! Everything is ready! I think that tomorrow is going to be the big day and after a big trip to the hospital I will have a little bundle of joy to take care of and teach the finer points of finding glory in the universe!

But for olde time's sake I figured I would fire up the SHIVAN DONUT DELIVERY SHIP and see if I could find some CRYSTAL SUGAR at the end of the Green and Red sector rainbow.

Wish me well Captains, and good hunting out there!

CAPTAIN'S LOG - STARDATE 3-11-13

It is good to be at home again and out of the hospital and ready to fire up the warp engines on a seemingly never ending quest.

Being a new father makes me have a ton of new responsibilities... but staying true to myself and accomplishing a goal is something that will make a good lesson down the road.

However... now that I am a happy father it seems that my emotional part of my brain is compromised the cold calculating nerves that get me around in outer space. My communications were down when I set out on mission number 36 and I was talking to a dead microphone.

Well... that is alright.

This house could use a little quiet so the newest cadet can get a little bunk time.

Not a very successful run... but a memorable one.

And that might be more important!

Good hunting out there captains!

CAPTAIN'S LOG - STARDATE 3-12-13

OPERATION: OREGON

I have been spending a lot of time on the forums these days reading what people have to say about the game FTL. It is one of my favourite games of all time and I can see that others out there feel the same way.

A lot of people HATE the random number generator that can crush your hopes and dreams just like that in FTL.

All these hours I have been traveling West to East across the galaxy in search of fame, fortune, scrap, pirates and that unicorn of mine the Crystal Cruiser I had a flashback.

Oh my goodness.

I have found Oregon Trail again.

Now I might be ready to be put into a museum for bringing up this fossil of an electronic game but I remember distinctly playing a game called OREGON TRAIL in school. Sometimes out of nowhere one of your wagoneers got sick, broke a limb, fell off the wagon and drown. Sometimes your wagon sank to the bottom of the river, sometimes it got looted, and sometimes it started on fire.

You really did not have any control over these events... but they sure made the game more interesting.

Today?

My sweetheart and I are going to sit down and play a game of Oregon Trail.

She is going to hold the baby and make the choices as we load up the wagon and head out West.

I hope my son doesn't drown again... but I will never let fear guide my choices in life.

My advice? See if you can get the Oregon Trail emulator to work... take a roll down Random Number Generator trail for olde times sake...

And always, always, look those giant spiders right in the eye!

AFTER 37 CRYSTAL SHIP RUNS

LONG RANGE SCANNER PURCHASES - 9
CRYSTAL CREWMEMBERS FREED - 8
ROCKHOMEWORLDS DISCOVERED - 2
SECRET SECTOR UNLOCKED - 0
CRYSTAL SHIP UNLOCKED - 0

CAPTAINS LOG STARDATE 3-15-13

I think this log entry might be put in a few places in the histories of the struggles of the Federation against the overwhelming Rebel armadas.

I was doing a double duty today... trying to use two edges of the sword at once.

As always I am looking for the ever ellusive Crystal Ship... but my secondary objective today was also to achieve victory with the lowest score possible.

I found a few distress signals... not a single stasis pod however. My first mission was over before it started. The fates were kind enough to put the ROCK HOMEWORLDS in my path however.

But my secondary objective?

If only I would have had a ANTI SHIP DRONE instead of an ION BOMB.

My score would have been around 1300 points.

No regrets though... it was a memorable adventure and now I am begining to wonder if you can defeat the Flagships not just with a score of under 2000 points... but a score of under 1000 points.

That would be a game for the ages.

Seta goal, chart a course, and you will reach that desitnation.

And always look those giant spiders in the eye.

CAPTAINS LOG - STARDATE 3-16-13

Time is a pretty valuable resource!

Being a new proud papa means I have a lot more responsibility... and I don't know if I will be able to dedicate as much effort to my quest for the Crystal Ship!

Well, my goal is to achieve this feat by the time my son is 16... so I am hoping that will be enough time.

What are games going to be like 16 years from now?

I cannot wait to see!

In order to save time I tried to do a double mission today. The primary objective as always is findinig the Crystal Ship. The secondary mission today was to defeat the flag ship under 24 minutes.

Playing the game in "fast forward" mode is a lot different to my slow, methodical, surgical approach.

After my first speed run I realize that the success about winning this challenge is "choosing your battles wisely."

I picked two fights that each took about five minutes a piece.

It was a learning experience... and as always... losing was FUN. When the timer went over 30 minutes I knew I have some training to do... and once again there were no Rock Homeworlds to be found.

Good hunting out there Captains!!!

CAPTAINS LOG - STARDATE 3-17-13

My mission has been accomplished.

On the 41st run I...

1. Finally found the stasis pod...
2. Opened with the help of the Zoltans...
3. Found the Rock Homeworlds...
4. Discovered the ancient device...
5. Entered the secret sector and survived...
6. Found the quest marker and found the Crystal Cruiser Type A.

The hard six has been rolled.

AFTER 41 CRYSTAL SHIP RUNS

CRYSTAL POD RECOVERIES - 16
LONG RANGE SCANNER PURCHASES - 9
CRYSTAL CREWMEMBERS FREED - 11
ROCKHOMEWORLDS DISCOVERED - 4
SECRET SECTOR UNLOCKED - 1
CRYSTAL SHIP UNLOCKED - 1

The name of my ship?

LEGACY 41 "GABE"

I find it very special that the first time I named my ship after my newborn son I found what I was looking for.

I want to thank everyone that contributed to this quest and hope that someday I can return the favour.

Make your wishes and goals out loud for everyone to hear. You never know who may be listening and they just might have the help you need.

Good hunting Captains, Commanders, Admirals, and friends...
