This is sorta complex, let me know if anyone needs clarification
"The intel your father gathered and put in that data disk is quite detailed, actually. He's a mighty fine officer,"
Jake glanced away for a moment. He is quite a great guy. All those medals and honor... top secret anti-Rebel missions in the Abandoned Sector... And I, his son, well... I'm a thief. And the people back home our probably calling us "Terrorists" or "Rebel Radicals"
"Black Holes form by collapsing stars. All the mass of a star gets dragged in unto itself until you have an infinitely dense, infinitely heavy particle called a singularity. This singularity is so dense that not even light can escape it, hence, 'Black Hole.' Mass dragged in by the Black Holes get added to the singularity, making the Black Hole grow.
It turns out that there are an abundance of small (Earth-moon sized) Black Holes in the Abandoned Sector, making it a great place for Rebel research. Black Hole Induction uses a series of extremely powerful inductive coils, which, using intense and targeted magnetic fields, can manipulate smaller Black Holes, by moving and mis-shaping the singularities within."
"So Black Hole Induction manipulates the center of a Black Hole, which manipulates the rest of the Black Hole?" Jake asked.
"Precisely." The Engi said. "Through their research, Rebels have managed to make soccer-ball sized Black Holes, and use Black Hole Inductor Beams attached to the sides of their ships to carry these mini-black holes with them."
"So a device attached to the outside of a Rebel ship makes a tiny Black Hole, which the Rebel ship can then carry around with them?"
"Exactly!" The Engi said, impressed at how quickly Jake was picking things up.
"What's the point of having a 'Pet Black Hole' sitting around next to your ship?" Jake asked.
"Many things. Using these powerful inductive coils the Rebels have developed, the Rebels can completely control the black hole. They can literally suck off all of the Shield Bubbles produced by a Federation Ship, including Zoltan Shields. They can draw almost all the power away from an opposing ship. Amping up the strength of their Black Hole, they can suck pieces of an opposing ship into oblivion."
"One more question..." Jake paused, thinking. "If this is all so highly classified, then why are you telling us?"
"Since you've escaped the academy, the Federation has realized that you must be exceptional. Like it or not, stealing an 80 year old ship, doing an in-atmo confined FTL Jump, evading a Federation patrol, going head-to head with a pirate in an uncharted nebula: (We had an automated Intel satilite probing the area. It saw & recorded the whole battle) these are no small feats. Your crew, no matter how many lines they crossed, have proven themselves to be exceptional. We are running out of options, you're our last resort."
"Wait... so the Feds are giving us a MISISON?" Jake said, in awe.
"Go to the Abandoned Sector. Find and destroy the place where the Rebels are developing the Black Hole technology."
"You want us kids, to go into the Abandoned Sector. That's crazy. THEN you want us to destroy the Rebels' research facilities stationed there???" Jake yelled, kind of outraged.
"You in?" The Engi asked, not even directly responding to Jakes' disbelif.
Jake screamed. "OF COURSE I'M IN!!! THIS HAS TO BE THE COOLEST THING EVER!!! WOL, get the others. We have an assignment."

(I will only agree to this if we can get the blackhole weapon for ourselves LOL)

That's actually a good point... does everyone agree with this plot development? If ya'll want to keep freely roaming the galaxy, without a mission - let me know and we can remove that... Sorry if that's a major change that no one wanted...

I'm down for it, we can still have the free roam with the final goal of finding the sector. The bonus wit hthis is that no rebels on our ass, more they target us for having aliens or something. Given our status we are neither fed or rebel, the perfect agent for this job

"Ahem" coughed WOL, still seated at the table. He turned towards Duston, "You said that the federation themselves, has appointed up to complete this mission, correct?" Duston nodded his head in reply, "Yes, precisely."
"So that should mean that they would be willing to fund us for this mission correct? After all, could they really be certain that an 80 year old, decommissioned ship, with only a pair of basic lasers, outdated systems, and a crew of TEENAGERS, to be able to retrieve a prototype that could have the potential to completely decide the power struggle between federation and rebel forces, situated WITHIN rebel forces, and since this is a low profile mission, I assume that no backup can be provided, by risk of discovery."
"Well..." Said Duston anxiously "I can't say for cert-" "Then you better find out first." Interrupted WOL. "If they won't be willing to part with some of their funds, then I absolutely refuse to take part in this mission."

"He" WOL pointed towards Duston "Says that the federation had assigned us some sort of "Secret Mission" to retrieve the black hole prototype, and escape without the Rebels noticing."
WOL paused for a moment "Naturally, I refuse to do something as insane as that, especially if they expect us to go in with our current outfit."

Bren blinked at that, he was stunned, so the federation wasn't gonna hunt them down and bring them to court for this...

"Things might turn out for the better" Lux said to Bren. She then headed to the medbay along with everyone else, only to be told about a new mission about a strange new weapon.
The smile on her face widened "A controlled singularity? Holy crap, if we can get one of those... dad would be so proud! Hell, my grandfather would approve!"
She raised a hand "I'm all in for this super secret mission!"

The whole thing sounded pretty unbelievable. Kyrie had been listening to Duston's story with the others. They seemed to want to jump in immediately, or with a new ship at least. But there were some things that Kyrie still wasn't sure about. "Never mind the money! How do we even know you're telling the truth? You just crashed in an escape pod and said you were from the federation. How do we know you didn't make this all up or that you aren't just trying to get us to go back to the Feds just to be arrested? I need to see some proof before I agree to this."
