I am having problems using BPAB with the Captain's Edition mod. On my laptop they work fine together, but on my desktop BPAB causes the game to crash.

To try and fix this weird problem I redownloaded EVERYTHING including the game itself and Slipstream. BPAB 1.3.1 still doesn't work with CE, BUT just for the heck of it I downloaded BPAB v1.2.1 and that did work. :D So no Hubble Backgrounds, but at least I got "something" to work.

I also tried running the game in windowed mode and the farthest I was able to get was BPAB 1.3 not crashing at the main menu, but instead crashing after hitting START.

So it seems like something added between BPAB version 1.2.1 and 1.3.1 is the culprit. With that information do you have any idea what the problem could be?

:!: No it doesn't. It just uses parts of the assets for certain custom backgrounds. ;)

OOOOOOOOhhhhhhh.... Well. Didn't know that. I guess did you make sure that CE was loaded first? Dunno about this one.

Actually I'm pretty sure CE is supposed to be loaded after Better Planets and Backgrounds. If I changed the BPAB files to append files and loaded them after CE would that interfere with any of CE's stuff? Maybe I'll try that later.

Technically that should work, but I'm not sure if it removes the crash cause. Also if your change the files to .append you have to remove the original backgrounds from the lists. I recall having copies of the same backgrounds in background lists causing some issues... Actually this might be related to your problem, but I'm not sure. Maybe try to ensure that the final lists do not contain multiple copies of the same background?

the mod still works, looks like there is no need for a update, the only thing missing in the xml file are the ipad entries and who cares about those anyways?!

go to
"\Steam\steamapps\common\FTL Faster Than Light\Slipstream Mod Manager v1.4-Win\backup"

and delete everything in the backup folder, if u activated any mods after the update, make sure your have the latest "data.dat" and "resource.dat"
if you not sure delete those 2 files in:

"\Steam\steamapps\common\FTL Faster Than Light\resources"

then verify game files, start mod manager and activate BetterPlanetsandBackgrounds 1.2.1 or 1.3.1 and optional better asteroids....
