Protip: you can juggle a 4th crewmember inside the medbay by commanding them to travel back and forth to either side of the medbay. You can use this to vent every room and keep 4 members alive, or heal many crew at once, etc etc. Try it next time!

My first was when I'd just beaten FTL on normal and unlocked the 2nd Zoltan ship. The first few games I played with it.... beam drones and pulse lasers everywhere... I had no clue how I could survive.

I just got unlucky at the start,

Since then I've got a score over 5000 for that ship... not a win yet though.

Not when your medbay is a dead-end! Those are the worst.

One time on my engi ship with 3 engis and 1 human, 4 mantis-es invade my friggen' ship. I died so fast.They took out everyone and everything. I was like "And I was so close to the last stand. Fuck you FTL"

So I was playing the Ghost Stories mod, and was doing pretty well. Nearly maxed ship, four ghost boarders, haunting hull breached rooms every day. Then it came to sector 8, and I faced this Rigger with the 4-damage Breach Missile. Who knew they one-shot ghost crew? Not I. Fuck you Defense Drone, for missing the one shot that mattered.

I started a game with the Engi B ship and was having a really good run in the first sector. I gained 2 more crew and some extra drones and weapons to sell. I get to the second sector and my first jump is a sun with a boarding event. I'm boarded by 4 guys that I can't handle at all with my crew and anti-boarding drone, in addition to my ship constantly catching on fire. I barely survive with 4 HP left so I jump out of there before another solar flare. My next jump is an asteroid field and my shield are already down from the sun/boarding event. I die instantly. Fuck you, FTL! That would have been a good run!

This is a more of a I hate myself, destroying a ship with autofire when my boarders are on it. >.<

Decided to try Normal just for giggles. (I'm still pretty bad even at Easy.) Many of the ships I fought in Sector 1 were packing missiles and thus I was down to 4 HP by the time I reached Sector 2. Thankfully I ran into a mercenary and hired him to scout, so I knew where I could get repairs. And then I got the "mine latched onto your ship" random event. Blew it up with a missile. Unfortunately this did enough hull damage to also blow me up. Hurr durr.

I was trying to unlock Kestrel B (had only Full Arsenal) and it proved to be hard as hell. Once I got four unique aliens, but then random event killed my zoltan (and I just had hired him from a shop). Then some autoship bombarded my ship into pieces. Almost-a-ragequit.

Second run. Got engi and mantis, and then 3 mantises from random event beam onto my ship - and half a second later two more from ship I'm currently fighting. They destroy all my systems and kill half of my crew. I end up with half ship vented, oxygen broken, two crewmembers (managed to kill intruders but three of my crew suffocated) and destroyed medbay. Restart...

Then, I manage to get an engi and a rockman, but some bastard sets half my ship on fire in nebula. Didn't end up well

It also included one run, when I got beaten in sector one: jumped into asteroid field, was against autoship who had burst and beam...

So after like 5 epic fails I had one of those flip-the-table-and-ragequit -moments.

But the next day, I almost epic-failed but managed destroy an enemy, was left with 1 hull point, had 150 scrap and next stop was a store... "Tough little ship" acquired and Red-Tail unlocked

Mantis B:

Fight Auto-Scout. Fight Auto-Assault. Rinse & repeat ad nauseam.

Finally port back my boarders half a second too late.
