While the Captain took in the sights and sounds and smells of the essence of discovery, Luxanna Jensen had rushed out of the shuttle in excitement, dashing past the others and towards the weird horse-like creatures. Her sudden movements and loud shouts probably startled the creatures and caused them to maintain their distance, like how a crowd of people would stand well away from a crazy lunatic rambling in the streets.
"You could have said this place would have horses!" the doctor squealed excitedly, waving her arms about. Several of the horse-like creatures glanced at Lux and then at each other in mutual agreement at the alien's lunacy.
"What do you say we catch one and ride it?" she laughed.

"I don't think thats a good idea, we don't know what they could do" he said, "Hey Captain got a scanner or anything, just wanna make sure they aren't gonna spit venom or maybe turn into some mutation' he said calmly walking over, this time they seemed a little more calm around him..blinking a bit, but moving away, stopping a bit as if they wanted him to follow.stylesrj wrote:While the Captain took in the sights and sounds and smells of the essence of discovery, Luxanna Jensen had rushed out of the shuttle in excitement, dashing past the others and towards the weird horse-like creatures. Bren however didn't catch onto that
(yeah its that event, however someone else has to figure out that they want them to follow, of course doesn't have to be fully the event, we might not get an engi ship, maybe its a rock ship or a mantis ship or even crystal, its our adventure. Also this would be a good place for a new character/rper to join in, cryo pods and what not)

Or maybe someone had crash-landed on the planet earlier and has tamed those horses as an early-warning system and we'll be attacked by an Engi horde shortly...

The others had gotten out quickly, exited to explore the new and fresh planet. Kyrie was the last to get out, by choice. Who knows what could come down and take them off it some nest. The landscape seemed friendly, though. She approached one of the horse-things carefully, reaching out to touch it, but it backed away. "We should name these things. I bet no one has yet. And the planet probably isn't named yet either! What about calling it, like, horseland or something?"

Re: [FTL RP, GAME BEGUN] The Rogue Cadets
I have a different idea...
Jake took a scan of the creatures. Totally harmless. "They're okay! Lux, you can ride 'em if you want, I don't care..." Jake said. Jake proceeded to lie on the ground, staring up into the blue sky with white clouds drifting across it. I was looking down on this sky about an hour ago. Now I'm looking up
at it. Fascinating.
He shut his eyes, his eyelids seeming to glow in the bright sun. He loved the feeling - the cool breeze. The shining sun. But something disturbed Jake, only a few minutes after he had lay down. Bizzzzzzzzzz... Jake opened his eyes, staring into the bright blue sky. There, buzzing across the sky - barely visible due to its size, was a small black object. It was flying down at extremely high speeds, headed somewhere into the nearby trees, away from the beach.
Jake didn't have time to explain to the others. He would loose visibility of the spacecraft if he didn't act now. He tore across the sand and into the grassy clearing. He sprinted through the field and into the forest, diving between trees and over bushes. The others ran after him.
"Jake, wait up!" Someone shouted behind him. SMASH! Jake heard the ship crash, nearby, to his left. He turned and ran towards the sound. There was a line of broken and burned trees, coming from the direction of the nearby sea. A small, black, metallic pod was sitting in the torn up grass, smoking. Slowly, a door on the pod slid open, and a nearly-dead Engi crawled his way out of the smoking craft.
"Jake Collins..." He coughed, the little LEDS on his Engi body flickering. "I have a message... from your father... It's about your friend, WOL... It all has to do... with... the... research station..." The Engi fell unconscious.
"LUX!!!" Jake screamed. "Where's Lux?!?!?"
This means A) Jakes father knew this man, and could still be alive. B) There is some correlation between WOL's backstory and Jakes.

'I can keep his internal nanite system running for a bit but we need to get him some new nanites, lets hope our ship has a contantor or two" he said as he worked to carry the spaceman to the shuttle

Re: [FTL RP, GAME BEGUN] The Rogue Cadets
Lux was trying (and unsucessfully) to ride one of the horses, not seeing the strange spacecraft flying overhead until everyone else had run after it. She had tried making clicking noises at it, followed by approaching slowly with her hands up, only for the horse to immediately back away and turn around so it was always facing her, then she tried offering food. The creature snorted at the idea and back off much further now. Then she heard a low rumbling as if something nearby had exploded.
The others heard it too and she was almost trampled in a stampede of horses as they fled the scene.
She reached to her side and grabbed the Mantis-Blade sword. The handle extended outwards until it was the length of a spear; she then started running for the area, spotting the burning trees and bushes leading towards the danger zone. A pair of horses hung about the area, no doubt curious as well on what had happened. Upon spotting the alien woman with a spear however, they stood in the path and neighed incessantly, as if inquiring about the phenomenon.
Lux could hear shouting in the distance but the horses wouldn't let her through as they continued standing in her path and asking questions.

As soon as Jake had gotten up and started running, Kyrie had looked in his direction and seen the strange ship coming down. It slammed into the earth with a loud noise. She started running after Jake and Bren, reaching the ship a little later then them. Dam short legs, always lettin me down. The engi inside seemed to be severely injured, and Jake was yelling for Lux. Kyrie looked back but only saw forest. "Lux!" There was no audible response. "We should probably take it to her."

Re: [FTL RP, GAME BEGUN] The Rogue Cadets
Warning: Long angst filled backstory ahead, proceed with caution
Terrified. WOL was absolutely terrified. He was holed up in his room, by order of the captain. 7 Days, for 7 days, they'd been hunted down by the Rebels. With each passing day, the rebels got more, and more aggressive. Their brief moments of respite were made even briefer, damage was being caused faster than they could repair, and supplies were running dangerously low.
By the time they arrived at the sector warp, they've exhausted nearly all of their supplies. Most of their systems were either offline or partially damaged, and they used their precious few moments to try to repair them. The FTL was currently charging, a few more minutes and they would be able to jump away from this living hell.
As if on cue, the Rebel fighters arrived at their beacon, with their weapons already pre-ignited. In a blink of an eye, the ship was bombarded in a hail of enemy fire. In the process, they disrupted the FTL charge, and severely damaged multiple vital systems.
All while this was occuring, WOL sat on the edge of his bed, his trembling hands seated on his lap, no idea of the chaos that was currently ensuing outside his room. He waited for some sign that things were alright, but it never seemed to arrive.
Suddenly, the door to his room opened, and standing outside was the captain of the ship, "Lanford". Before WOL could ask him how things were, he spoke "Put this on, then come with me" said Lanford tossing him an oxygen mask, in the event that the 02 Systems are disabled. After he finished putting it on, Lanford also donned his own mask, and dragged WOL off by his right arm.
The sight outside was horrific. The corridor was horribly damaged, loose wires jutted out emitting Sparks, the walls were covered in burns and gashes. WOL was cut short of t time to absorb the sight, as he was immediately being dragged off elsewhere. They navigated the ship, running through a maze that seemed so familiar, yet so different.
They made a detour at the sensor room. Most of the monitors were damaged and offline, save for a few still intact. WOL could see glimpses of what was happening outside, a group of rebel fighters circled the ship, keeping their distance, but occasionally swooping in to unleash a volley of lasers and missiles, all the while, Lanford was using the main monitor in order to extract data from their cache.
WOL scanned the room further, and was traumatized by the sight that lay before him. "Alexa" a human researcher onboard the vessel, the one that taught WOL about the subtle art of diplomacy, the Galaxy's history, a mother figure to WOL, lay dead on the floor, large pieces of debris piercing her chest, and a pool of blood collecting benath her.
Lanford pulled a data chip out of the monitor, "All done, now let's move." WOL didn't move, "Lanford... Where are the others?" Said WOL shakily. "WOL we don't have time-" "LANFORD PLEASE!"... "They're dead, all of them. But what matters right now is that you're still alive, now come with me".
WOL was silent, he had nothing more to say, he simply nodded and followed Lanford. He was led to the room containing the escape shuttle, Lanford told him to enter first, which he complied. Suddenly, the doors to the escape shuttle slid closed, and WOL started pounding the door frantically.
"Sorry kid, looks like there's only room for one man in that escape pod, or one engi anyways, heh"
"Me? I'm staying behind to make sure those damn rebels don't follow you. If I'm going down, I'm going down fighting to my last breath"
"That chip you got with you? Don't lose it, this shuttle is programmed to arrive at the nearest federation outpost, explain what happened and give them the chip, they'll know what's in it"
"Heh, never thought I'd go out like this, guess I gotta part a few last words of wisdom before I go.
"You choose your own future, fly far WOL, fly far and never look back"
The escape pod announced it's launch, and Lanford ran quickly out of the room. He was ejected from the ship and was now flying through the cold vast reaches of space. The research vessels weapons came to life, and attacked the rebels with everything it had.
The fighters responded to this by unleashing all their weapons at once. The last thing WOL saw before warping, was the research vessel tearing apart into scrap.
===============================================
WOL had awoken. Sleep was considered a luxury to the Engi species. They could go days, even weeks, Without suffering from the side effects of sleep deprivation, even then symptoms are relatively tame, only manifesting as slightly more sluggish behavior, and losing focus at times.
WOL actively avoided sleep, the other students thought that he was a workaholic, and while he did use his time to busy himself with classwork, he was mostly just trying to keep himself busy, so he would never need to sleep.
The reason why he tried to avoid it is because that God damn memory played everytime he tried to get some sleep. Not a dream, a memory, a painfully real memory. A memory that no soul except for himself knew about.
Some people asked about his origins, everytime he would say that he came from a research vessel, and they seemed to be content with that answer. Not even his own crew members knew the extent of the scars that ran deep within his core.
He sat himself up on the bed, sleeping was off the table, and WOL still felt too tired to wander around, so he buried his hands on his head, and just sat there.
