My first run(only played normal) and I died on the first jump as well! Mother-father mercenary. I had watched some LP's and live streams so yeah... ::face palm::

On my second run I got to Sector 6 I think; so not too bad. And I've been playing at work

Fourth run (still easy mode) last sector, stage 3!

I'd have done better if I had enough firepower to reliably overwhelm a four-layer shield, but somehow I ended up with a burst laser 2, heavy ion, fire beam, and system bomb (with a missile shortage) - no offensive drones. The fire beam actually helped to set up a no-enemy-crew situation, which put me probably surviving-one-volley away from victory. It also hurt that I had to rush through a nebula sector because my hull was shot to pieces.

At least I unlocked an additional ship this run.
