In my last run on Kestrel A, I started out with a second burst laser 2 and steam rolled through the first few sectors, taking surrenders when they offered lots of resources. I ended up with nearly 50 missiles saved up by the end of sector 6 when I found a free hermes launcher floating in space. Then I found another hermes in a shop for 50 scrap. I decided on the plan. Buy the hermes, sell the starting launcher. Sold one of the burst lasers, and I finished it off with some anti ship drones. It was a fun challenge to fight late game enemies with a missile and drone heavy ship knowing I needed to save up enough of each for the final boss. I could easily missile every ship to smithereens, but I had to play conservatively. I ended up doing fine and had plenty for sector 8. I got to the final boss with 36 missiles.
