I have to disagree with OP about this ship. It has two of the most underrated weapons in the entire game. The dual laser is a better version of Burst Mk1, and the mini beam can be fantastic; with very careful placement, you can hit four rooms with it. Sure, you'll need more and bigger weapons eventually, but they are super fast and super efficient in terms of energy use early on.

It was the most overpowered ship I had and wiped the boss with ease. He took me down ~4 hull bars in 3 fights
I never played on easy ! What i had:

-bought shields and upgraded to 3 bars (do it early, saves you repair money and you can buy better weapons when you need them (sector 3-4+)
-upgrade for ready weapons on jump
-upgrade to not interupt cloak when shooting
-cloak on full
-engine upgrades
-anti rocket drones
-a missle launcher, a beam and an ion canon

Jump into secotr, use rocket to take down shields, kepp them down with ion and use beam to destroy their weapons/drones. My beam had 2 damge per room hit, which kills their half ship with a single shot + 4 rocket dmg.
Having 50% evade, 3 shields and cloak makes you close to immortal with only a limited timeframe they can hit you. You have the chance to unload your weapons 3 times before they can start damaging you, what means they propably can't fire a single shot.

1-2 shots later cloak is up again for 15 sec, 2 free weapon unloads while in godmode.

You have tons of events which give you free items so you can sell, expecially in engi sectors. At boss fight I had 200 scrap and didn't even know what to do with it.
