Stealth A is fine. It's quite fun. Stealth B is, however, lacking a little bit at the start. I've yet to complete a run with it. It's rare when I even make it past sector 5 with it. Maybe a repair drone, or an extra unused point in weapons. (That's what usually gets me: a stray enemy shot disables the really-long-recharge glaive.)

If any ship needs a buff, it's the Fed B. At least the Stealth B has a powerfull endgame weapon to help it if it survives the incredibly difficult start. The Fed B has.... nothing.

Stealth A is my favourite ship. I really don't want it changed - it's great.
With such a strong early game you can use the sensors to look for fights in sector 1. Once you get slightly ahead of the curve it's all good from there.

Fed B is a huge downgrade from Fed A... There are simply no redeeming factors about it. Poor guns, 2-man medbay and its thin structure contributes nothing to the ship's longevity. It does have artillery beam lv2, but it's not that expensive and not even that useful in early levels. 1 less crew and no mantis or rock.

I agree, the fed B is broken. Here's a quick idea to fix it - since it has a faster charging arty beam, keep the fast charge motive and give it the auto loader augment.

Does it even affect the arty beam? I don't remember.
It's main problem is that it has no advantage whatsoever unless you count the 10s faster charging of the special beam. That is not enough to overcome it's disadvantages. I don't mind challenging ships, but the Nisos is not even fun to play.

I think it fits with the pattern of many of the B ships, in that it is more challenging and forces you to play a different way from the standard ships. For example:
- Mantis B forces you to primarily board because it has no weapons.
- Zoltan B forces you to kill quick or run because it has no standard shield.
- Engi B forces you to use whatever you find because it comes with nothing that's useful past sector 2 (ok, that one's a stretch).
- Stealth B (in a nod to the original topic) forces you to use the cloak as your only defence.
All of these are harder to play than the A versions. In the same vane, Fed B forces you to use the Artillery Beam which requires an otherwise very defensive play style. Unfortunately this makes it a bit tedious, but at least it is something different.
Back on the original topic, I view it the same way. I appreciate the extra challenge and change of play style forced by the DA-SR12. If I want to play an easier ship there are plenty of those available.
