Question about the crystal race quest.

I just got the stasis pod for the crystal person opened, and he told me to go to the rockman homeworlds and go to a wormhole there, but I've already passed that location. Do I have to wait until I find the pod, open it, and then get to the wormhole into the rockman homeworld in a new life? Or can I skip finding him and go straight to the wormhole in the next life I have?
