Looks like your java version is not up to date. Mkae sure you install the latest java version for Mac, just google java download and you'll be directed to a Mac latest download pretty quickly. After getting the latest java version you should be able to run the tool.
Also, please run :
java -version
and post the java version you are using.

Yeah, your java version (1.6..) is incompatible with the tool java version (1.7 and onward).
You can download the latest java 1.7 release using this link (official site):
https://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Your OS will be automatically detected, and you'll get detailed instructions on how to install the update (should be straight forward and simple).

Released an update :
Changelog 0.11.0:
* Added specific floor layout images to all ships.
* Reduced size of tool and resources by half.
* Replaced .sh executable with a smaller version with better Mac OS compatability.
The added floor layouts solve the compatability issues with CE's latest release (the Randtrel floor layout replaces CE's floor layout, so as with all ship mods used with CE, the Randtrel should be patched in after CE).
Noticed I had some clutter in both the resource pools and the actual tool jar file, so this new release is about ~13mb smaller.
Following the issues with Mac OS compatability, and with the helpfull advise from kartoFlane and Vhati's script, this release's .sh file should run successfully on the Mac OS. Just make sure you have Java 1.7 or higher installed.
Have fun, keep on FTLing, and I'll start working on the Rand of war (and try to think of a few tricks to add to those slugs...)

Two words, Endless Loot. rannl has already made a program that randomizes all of the enemies for CE's Endless Loot addon. You can go and download it now.

Released v0.12.0, with the Rand of War, the randomized Slug cruiser.
Changelog 0.12.0:
* Added a randomized slug A cruiser, with assets based on B and C as well.
* Added mini images (found in the hanger ship list and the scoreboard) for the random ships.
The slug build is based on the A/B/C configurations, with the A configuration including fire starter weapons, the B configuration using a no healing bomb, reconstructive teleporter, and the C configuration with a cloaking system instead of mind control and hacking.
Noticed I didn't have the mini images used by the ship list in the hanger and at the score board window - added those as well.
As always, comments/reviews/ideas/thoughts are more then welcome. Have fun, the zoltan cruiser is next.
