FTL as an MMO?

Post by green_viking »

I just had this thought a few days ago, what if FTL was in an MMO format? If you could explore a universe inhabited by other players. Just thought it would be cool.

dude don't even compare the two. totally different style of gameplay, totally different universe and honestly look at the two games. would you ever see them and think they are exactly the same?

Exactly, it wont work because then it wont be FTL anymore.

A lot of people think that wouldn't it be cool/better if single player game X was an MMO but you have to realize that doing that would fundamentally change the game and then it wouldn't be game X anymore, it'd be game Y and FTL wouldn't be FTL anymore, it'd be Eve (As an EXAMPLE not EXACTLY the same).

While both FTL and EVE involve losing a large amount of ships at a very quick pace, they are indeed completely different.

But an FTL-like game could work as a simplified MMO, where all encounters are actually another player.
