Can enemies spawn with defensive drones in sector 1?

Can enemies spawn with defensive drones in sector 1?
I'm going for the rock ship achievement.

I answered my own question. Yes they can spawn. I must have restarted close to 100 times, but I finally got one.

I've even seen Defense II drones in sector 1, which I found kinda jerkish.
