Random Commander's CE Battles

Postby Random Commander » Tue Apr 15, 2014 11:11 pm

Storytelling seems fun, but I haven't seen anyone do stories about FTL mods, so I'm going to do stories about Captain's Edition (With Infinite Space and Endless Loot) here, mainly about the fun battles I had.

So to start off, I had nowhere to run, and I decided the only way to get to the exit beacon was to go through the rebel fleet. To my Unluck, a Rebel BATTLECRUISER was waiting for me.

A Predicament (For Them)

Image
Big And Scary!

So when I start, the BC teleports a two-man crew into the engine room right when my Light Gat gets charged. I send my 2 mantis to fight alongside my rockman (It was a Mother-Son family of mantis :P ) The rest of my weapons charge, but the BC fires first! Thankfully, with 4 shields the barrage of firepower wouldn't do much. I also had 40% evasion (35% with my Rockman occupied...) so when the Burst Laser II fired I wasn't too panicked. I wasn't waiting for the off-screen heavy laser to fire, I aimed my Breach Bomb II for the Shields. I wasn't going to be able to do much with the Artemis because the BC had a Defense Drone II ready.

Image
Too Close...

I was mistaken, the BC fired an ENTIRE VOLLEY, meaning all weapons had already fired. All 4 shields go down and I cloak with 1 bar just before the last shot hits something, and thankfully dodge it. The Breach Bomb explodes, taking out 3 bars of the enemy's shields system. 2 Shield layers went down, which is more than enough for my Light Gat to do it's work. I aimed it at the piloting section. The Enemy's probably high evasion has got to go. Knowing my Artemis is useless and the enemy's shields have been lowered by TWO, I decide to switch power from the Artemis to the Hull Laser.

But wait, the enemy has a defense drone mark TWO, right? That means it's also able to intercept energy projectiles, not just missiles! Realizing this, my next target for the Breach Bomb became the Drone Bay, although the BC also has repair drones, and you never know the order of the enemy's drones. By the time I decloack, the two enemy boarders get gacked, so that was it for a hostile takeover. The BC had a medbay, so there is no way those boarders are coming back :)

Image
Pop goes the dronebay!

Meanwhile I turn on Autofire and focus the Light Gat on the two people in the Shield room, whom are injured and repairing a hull breach. It seems the opportune time to hopefully kill more crew and charge my Gat... if the darn Defense Drone would stop intercepting my bullets! The BC's Scattergun goes off as my Breach Bomb launches. BOOM, Direct hit on the Drone Bay! However the Defense Drone goes Off-screen, so I don't know if it got Deactivated or not... My Hull Laser (which fires two shots thanks to the "Repeating" Prefix) takes down the shields, but the BC Fired its Burst II and intercepts the other Hull Laser shot. A few more Gat Shots hit the Shield Room, destroying the Repair Drone that was there and hurting another enemy crew member dearly. None of the gat shots were intercepted, which confirms the Defense Drone II was disabled!

Image
Fire in the Shields!

We trade shots a bit and it seems one of the BC's crew is trying to heal. That is not happening, so I arrange for a breach bomb to bomb the medbay. The Piloting will have to wait. The bomb goes off in the medbay and-- Resist!? I forgot that this was a "Plated" Rebel BC, so I will have to wait a bit. The lucky bastard is making all my shots miss and having the crew healed to full! I wait for the next Breach II Bomb and...

Image
BA-BOOM! That's 3 for 3!

BULLSEYE! The Medbay is gone and a crew member bites the dust! That makes 3 of 6! With him gone I can go on to more pressing matters, like killing more crew and DESTROYING THE MOTHERFRACKING BRIDGE!!! I fire some more Light Gat shots at the bridge, but for some reason they are not getting through... the BC has two layers of shields, is that it? The piloting section gets fried as the shields get fully repaired. I should get the Artemis back online...

Image
Those rebels in the Drone Bay are idiots...

Now they are going for the Pretty much out of whack Drone bay. I have to get either the Artemis or the Breach II to destroy the shields so that I can "gat" them out of there. Heh heh, gat. Meanwhile the BC fires the Heavy lasers to no effect. The Breach Bomb charges first and does 3 damage to shields again, making way for my Light Gat. I also spy a rebel trying to repair the medbay, so I send Mr. Artemis his way. He manages to get out before the missile hits, though. Meantime I kill the crew in Piloting and set it ablaze. 4 down, 2 to go.

Image
Hey Xavier, here's a thought, why don't you take your 86-hitpoint rear and NOT FOLLOW YOUR DUMB, WOUNDED CREWMATE??

I'm surprised I did not take any hull damage at this point, then again I do have two layers of Rock Armor, 4 Shields, and I'm only in like sector 5 or so... Still, I've almost emptied the BC of crew, without a scratch even. That should make the Rebels think... I don't know... Four or Five times? Type C Rocks are more powerful thank you think, apparantly!

The Last two crew members try to repair the fiery Piloting room, but my Light Gat says otherwise. They each run into the Shield room in a futile attempt to get the shields working again, but a final gat shot kills them both and leaves the Rebel Battlecruiser as a big, shiny, multi-purpose coffin.

Image
Yo Sleeper, why don't you go and "disabled" that typo for the next update?

So all in all, maybe Battlecruisers aren't so much a threat if you manage to kill the crew of one and you're still at full health? I don't know...

Random Commander and the Five-Shield Transport Barge

Image
...Of the "Few" Armed ships? If this is a TRANSPORT BARGE, I think they all are armed and there should be an ASB event too.

Five-Shield Transport Barge.....

Five-Shield Transport Barge, I keep repeating to myself. It was insane, what I can encounter in Sector 8 of Endless Mode (Non-Boss level!). But here it is, escorted by a convoy of so many motherfracking Mantis Escorts. I'm going to get a lot of boarders, that is for sure.

The Fight begins and I suddenly remember, "Oh crap, the Backup Battery is damaged!" I send a Lanius to repair it because I deprived my ship of oxygen for incoming boarders already. My motley assortment of races are at their positions (Including an AI Avatar!) and once the Backup Battery goes on I will give them hell.

Intruders come in from the Cloaking Room and more mantis head for the teleporter (There is 7 of them by the way! It's like I'm attacking an Armed and Armored Convoy Ship! Hell, now that I look at it, it's PLATED! That means resistance to system damage!). I switch places with my Mantis and Engi crewmembers as the new mantis beam in from BESIDE the cloaking room. Keep in mind both rooms are deprived of oxygen.

Image
Reinforcement mantises

Suddenly, another group of boarders go in, this time in the mind control room! I sincerely doubt there was a cooldown for the Teleporter, so I was like "What the hell...?" Regardless I Adjust the doors so that they will have a hard time getting out. I do notice that when door control goes out, just about everything is screwed for me until Noemi the Lanius finishes fixing the backup battery.

The Enemy's weapons are just about to fully charge, and I notice my Light Gat and Pulse Auto Laser are charged, so I Fire first, only if to warm up the Light Gat. Autofire is on, so I can just fire and forget.

Image
Is there an exterminator in this galaxy???

The Mantis manage to get through the Door Control room and I retreat my Engi "Kai Winn" (At least, I hope "Kai Winn" this fight...) to the Sensor room. When he safely gets away I immediately open the airlocks next to it and make the mantis suffocate more. The blast doors get downgraded, so I send for Rocky Balboa (He's human and black, except Rocky isn't black...) to the weapons room, where the mantis are about to breach, and have Ronon the Zoltan take his place (He's also yellow-star on Shields).

Yet another Mantis is going for the teleporter, but I have sort of a surprise for him. I almost forget the surprise when I suddenly realized the Enemy Ship's missile weapon is about to fire, so I sacrifice energy from my engines and my mind control to output a Mark III Defense drone (A real jewel I came across from a shop :D ), it takes 4 energy so it is a hella expensive, but missiles are also dangerous so there is that.

So Six mantis are already aboard my ship, there will soon be a seventh, and we're about to trade fire. Talk about Climax.

Image
Mind controlling the Seventh

And then many things happen at once. All the mantis breach their doors, the Seventh mantis jumps and I Mind control him/her/it, The missile fires and my Drone intercepts it, a Scattergun from the enemy fires but misses, My light gat and Auto laser combo fires, taking out another bar of shields to ion damage, and I send my AI Avatar Barney to help fix the backup battery. SH!T JUST GOT REAL.

Image
Four Mantises in a room with no oxygen in your ship. Not a good place to be.

What I hear next is "BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP!" Looks like Rocky failed his boxing class and the crystal guy Mitchell is about to die too. I've sent Noemi to help, since the Oxygen is going to go down anyway (It kinda already has), and the Mind-controlled Mantis is also there helping us out. I have a clone bay, so I really don't care about them dying, but the loss of EXP is going to hurt... I close the doors to the Backup Battery and Clone bay, filling in the oxygen once more. The enemy fires a triple heavy beam, taking out two of my shields. Not bad, mantis, not bad.

Wait, Crickets? Is the Mantis performing some sort of-- OH SH!T MY CLONEBAY!

I forgot I turned it off to save power! In a panic I almost lose Rocky and sacrifice my power from the Oxygen (Oh noes!) and the engines (Less evade! Oh noes oh noes!) Just as I see the enemy about launch a bomb (Oh noes oh noes oh noes!)

Phew, Clone bay powered. Rocky is saved. We were about to lose a good(-ish) boxer. Mitch and Rocky are in stasis while Noemi tries to be a badass. In the meantime I activate the Backup Battery and power the engines back up.

Image
...And a Badass Noemi was!

Noemi, as expected, kicked ass and the mantis try to set me up the bomb. I got signal, powered cloak and got the hell out of dodge. Mr. Balboa is back and I notice the enemy's shield is at 1. Good time to kick ass.

Image
NATURAL ONE ON DRONE CHECK!!

WAIT A SECOND WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!?

The Defense Drone suddenly derps and lets a missile slide by, hitting the room besides the Cloak Room! There goes my unscathed record... but it was only 2 hull, I still got 28 hull and the mantis only have 2 crew left.

I notice a mantis going for the medbay, so I let loose my Repeating Basic Laser II (It mine as well be a Burst Laser I) He takes massive damage, and the ship gets 2 Hulls worth of damage. NOW YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL!

The enemy sends out a missile and a bomb, which lands in the Shield area, goes off. I wasn't able to evacuate Ronon in time, so he takes damage. At least he can repair the dang thing with the help of Rocky once he gets there...

I eventually kill off the mantis in the room with my Gat and Mitchell gets revived. Another Mantis takes his place. Easy target.

Image
Just one more to go...

Weapons fire, great... Nothing my 3 shields can't handle hopefully... With a defense drone Mark III It was able to shoot down some of the lasers before my shields go down. A grand total of 2 shields are hit. I finish off the mantis with ease.

Image
94 Scrap? Wow, that's a good haul!

Image
Damnit, Killroy! No one cares if you're playing TF2!!

A Five-Shield Transport Barge-- Er.. a Five-Shield Plated Transport Barge and it's convoy... All down the drain thanks to me. The galaxy is a safer place. It only costed 8 scrap worth of damage, two cases of cloning disorientation and a cracked ego. Or nine, if you count me and the crew.
