OK, that explains it a little better - first post wasn't very elaborate, so I assumed "install fails", rather than "I can't even try to install".

Sadly, now I have no clue - I'm avoiding touching anything Apple with a long stick, and general-purpose computer common sense doesn't explain why the same type of file (zip renamed to FTL) shows up for you re one mod, but doesn't re another. If files aren't corrupted during download (rather not, as IIRC, mod file is packaged - you need to unpack it first, so you would get CRC errors), it may be something fruitcompany-specific.

Look at the image again -- you can easily see that sMPK is a .rar, and that BPAB is a .7z. SMM only recognizes .ftl files (and .zip, if you explicitly tell it to)

Read each mod's thread more carefully to determine whether you have to extract the file, or just rename it.

.7z is an archive like .zip or .rar, you have to extract it, that will give you a .ftl file.

@Bull3tM0nk3y, are you on mac ? a lot of mac users had problems with the nebula, you can either turn off animated nebula in the options menu or use this fix here

@EnterElysium, i think with CE you have to keep the right load order, there should be some info in the first post of the CE thread. this is the only thing i'm aware of...

So I renamed the files. Should this work without corrupting the files? It never gave me the option to "up-pack the .rar or .7z because it looked likt they were already "un-packed".
Will need help to install on make.

what file did you rename ? you don't have to rename the *.7z file, you have to unpack it, with a quick google i found out, mac can't handle 7z by default...

so grab yourself one of those at the bottom under "Some unofficial p7zip packages for Linux and other systems"

then you can extract the ftl file from the 7z archive..

SO I am installing three mods, Diversity (graphical), High res backgrounds, and the better planets mod. How should I go about installing them to make sure there is no breakage.

Mods loaded after other mods will overwrite them if they both change the same game assets. This you can see in the list of files clobbered. It doesn't neccesarily break the game, but it does mean that only one mod will apply it's changes fully, while the previous one(s) will only be partial.

The mod that is most important, or most desirable should be loaded last. In SMM you can drag mods around to establish their load order.
