Hey guys,
Im from Germany, so sorry when my english is not so good
Since the first time i played ftl i wished for other gamemodes. Sure, you can download mods like the infinite space mod but i think it would be much cooler if gamemodes like this would be in the game. i dont know if anybody else has my oppinion too, but i would love it when the producers add new gamemodes. ( for example an endless game, without the endboss)
The game is based on SCORE, not on story or epic adventures.
It is a repetitive game so it is very much like infinite space exploration,
the whole point of it is to have the highest score possible without cheating AKA mods
What I can think of that may add much more depth is to add more ships and equipment into the game.
To add smaller ships with high dodge setting or big battle cruisers with powerful shields and drones.
To add a hanger and have someone piloting a small fighter for you may add some great depth into the game...
More weapons, more battle options such as roaming the enemy ship with a specially designed hull and so on.
To say the game is based on score I think is quite incorrect. This is because, if you have a good enough ship/equipment, you can jump around all the rebel-captured systems and farm score as much as you like.
Score is counted like this:
20 points for ship kill
10 points for visiting a new beacon
1 point for each scrap gained
+25% for playing Normal
so if you are truly aiming for score, go fight all of the rebels...
I would say instead that the game is all about hunting achievements - to unlock the ships, at first, and to fill out the achievement page, later. Since score on its own doesn't really mean anything.
All ships I have created include custom weapons, graphics etc:
