Do we know whether or not there's going to be added content?

I'm really pleased they're still doing patches/bug fixes/tweaks, but!

I'm curious as to if the developers have stated one way or the other as to whether or not they plan to release content patches/add-ons/expansions/etc. later on, IE new ships/systems/mannable positions/power options/etc.

A lot of fans have talked about WANTING to see that stuff down the road, but that doesn't mean the devs actually plan on doing any of that or not - fan talk is just that.

Hmm, bringing FTL to the tablets and that's about it?

More and more I get the feeling they have no intention of expanding the game. And they don't have an obligation to do so. But I think they should just say so. Ever since the game came out we've been wondering if there is going to be some sort of extension in one form or the other. I understand that back then they were super busy with other things, fixing bugs, promoting the game, taking a break and whatever. But now quite a few months have passed and they still did not share any of their future plans with us. I find that lack of communication a bit disappointing.
It's okay if there won't be an FTL2. It's okay if there won't be any extentions. (The game is great the way it is now). But either way, please just tell us and don't keep us hoping endlessly.

Its two guys... think about the man hours needed, and consider that expanding the concept while keeping what's good about it is a challenge. You are also forgetting that the game itself was one part of the project, there's also kickstarter rewards and art that needed to be done, not to mention bugfixes and changes/additions in patches. From what i have gathered, the schedule was grueling from kickstart all the way to mid january, and it may still be busy. I am not priviledged to specifics, but i don't think the guys have enough lazy time.

I'd rather they don't just add questionable content in order to placate those who itch for more. FTL was a great result, FTL2 could go downhill easily. And possibly it may.

The devs keep shtum about the specific plans but FTL is still alive as a game and a project. However, any quality additions will take time to appear.

As for mobile ports not being very interesting to some, the numerous calls for it from the community give it a pretty high priority.

You aren't. More content would be nice, hell, i'd pay for more - ftl's success would suggest that further content would also be a success/sell well.

But it's something we'll consider more in the future.'' - is what the developer (Mathew) said at the moment, so it is possible however there's no confirmation or suggestion that the game will be expanded upon any time soon. Except for that a mobile port is underway.

And in the meantime, there are plenty of mods that can be used to make the game more entertaining/pretty/challenging/etc, which you can get your teeth into. I personally haven't used any yet but VoV uses an excellent graphical mod that makes everything look super sexeh... but anyways, this is a possible DLC thread, not a modding thread, but I just thought I'd make a quick point.

If some uber entity of the forum supervised a mega merge of the best mods out there and called it a Community DLC for FTL, I would jump on it asap. As it is now, I'm just wary of buggy custom ships and unbalanced total converrsions.
