[Interface] Accessible crew bios and choosable start rooms?

Hey guys,


Often when I'm madly putting out fires or attacking invaders, I just order everyone in, then when it's all over I have to untangle the half-trained pilot back into the cockpit, the half-trained weapons guy back to the weapons room etc. It would be nice to be able to mouse-over a crewmember's button on the top right and see stats and abilities like you can on the "ship" screen. Resetting everyone after battles is definitely a tedious task, because much as I'd love to get personally attached to my individual crew and remember who's who, the games are too short and numerous for that. The other way to solve this is to be able to assign crew to specific rooms and have a "go back to your stations" button, but that would probably be oddly specific to my own play style, whereas getting specialised crewmember info from a tooltip would (imo) be more generally useful and intuitive.

Who's with me? Anyone?? No? Eh.


The second interface tweak I think would make the game more enjoyable is to be able to set defaults for crew locations and autofiring that get applied to every new game started/every ship type.The second biggest source of tedium that gets in the way of fun is firing up my kestrel for the 20th time and moving a dude into the shield room, then wiping the first battle because I forgot to turn on autofire again.

I agree with an easier way to get your guys back to station.. or at least know who goes where.. I start to memorize names/stations... +1

and what is this autofire you speak of? *he ask while furiously retargeting his Torus ion cannons* (j/k :twisted: )

Do you know what would be cool? Procedurally generated bios. Just something amusing to read, and out of the way so you can ignore it if you don't like it/get bored of it.

Anyway, being able to assign default rooms and then hitting a "Return to Default location" button (maybe a button for All or just a specific crew member) would be awesome. Sometimes you're running them all over the ship if there's fires or people boarding.

What would be the point? It would take a lot of coding for a small result that most people aren't going to bother glancing at twice.
