Lux had one hand on the hilt of her blade as she went to the food truck. Charlie chittered "You're back? Can I get you something of greater interest?"
"Those pirates I was talking to earlier" Lux said to the insect.
"I don't think I can do that to my top customers" Charlie laughed as he tapped his claws on a small datapad, like a text message. It was... oddly comical to see the creature tapping away with such delicacy. Although probably not as much as the picture Bren had received earlier.

A few minutes later, Bosun Morgan returned. He was still dressed in his human-skin coat but he came with four other pirates, also dressed similarly; although one of them wore a coat that seemed to have had a lot of colours clashing together in a kaleidoscopic fashion. "You didn't bring the Slugs?" he asked, with a smile "Oh well, your friends here can be a substitute instead..."
The other pirates laughed which may have caused alarm and threats of violence "Only joking."
Lux frowned for a second "So which one of you is the Captain?" None of the guards looked feminine and Morgan did say the Captain was female.
"That would be me" a green-skinned woman said, pushing past the bodyguards. She was about the same height and build as Lux except perhaps with more developed muscles due to the pirate lifestyle. She also appeared to be carrying triplets - wildly actively kicking triplets. "Captain Eden Cortez of the Starship Pelican" she introduced herself, looking at Jake and Bren "Your boyfriend looks rather scrawny and Zoltan, for all their energy are not very filling."

"Your humor is lacking, I would have gone with the flavors very from person to person joke" Bren said chuckling

As the woman pushed into view, Jake first thought she was a Mantis. But no, human. Just green. Genetic Modification, presumably.

Jake ignored the "Boyfriend" and "scrawny" comments. "What do you want? And what do you know about Lux?" He pressed.

Eden laughed "Oh so you must be the Captain of that lugger"
She approached the young man with a sauntering walk. "I know that Luxanna isn't partaking in The Gift that we were given" she explained to him "What we want is for her to return to us so we can teach her what she's meant to know."

Lux said "I don't want to partake in your cannibalistic rituals."
Eden looked at her "You can't deny your true destiny forever. I know you. We all do. It's part of being given The Gift. We share a... kinship. We know when one of us is around"
"Captain... Jake..." Lux said "I'm starting to think coming here was a mistake."
Eden frowned "Mistake? We know that you and your crew are on some sort of dangerous mission. You will not make it with only one or two ships. You're going to need more."
She looked to Jake "In exchange for letting us teach Luxanna our ways of the Gift, you will get the support of my ship and my crew. We may be cannibals but we do not eat our allies and we are very ferocious in combat. You want me to demonstrate?"
She looked at one of her bodyguards and crossed her arms.

Bren had his arms folded, "I don't know, this seems a bit suspect, and a bit too easy, whats the catch?" he asked

"I'm all for an ally in our mission, but Bren is right, what's the catch?" Jake asked, placing one hand on his blaster. He flipped the switch to power it up, so it was primed to fire. "What does Lux have to do to learn the ways of this... Gift. If The Gift entails consuming sentient beings, no deal."

Jake realized that these were not good people. They were not safe. Whatever Eden wanted Lux to do, it would be bad. "We don't ally with monsters like you," He said. "Lux, Bren, let's go." Jake began walking away.

She glared "Are you going to go out there and find every single pirate, vagabond and Rebel officer, recover their bodies and give them to their families for burial? Or are you going to let them sit there and rot away?"

As the others looked like they were leaving, Lux stood her ground. "I'm not sure Captain that we should be so hasty to judge these people..."

"Somethings we can justify, self defense, justice, and what not...hard to justify eating another living thing that can think and reason" he said, "I won't judge you Lux whatever path you take...just know if you become a threat to our goals, I will be the first to take you down" he said ina stern tone, supporting whatever path but with the warning he needed to tell her

Jake turned, shocked. "This isn't thievery, or general crime. Canabilism is a sickness. "The Gift" is a disease. These people are mentally ill phycopaths. They EAT PEOPLE. What they call The Gift is an illness. We need to leave, now."

"Sickness?" Eden asked "You know, that's what the Rebellion calls you Federation do-gooders. A sickness on the galaxy. They compare alien beings to parasites!"
She sighed "Our crew have been running smuggling operations into the Quarantine Zone. Two months ago, the Rebellion deliberately broke the blockades and started purging those worlds from orbit, killing everyone. Whatever mission you're planning on is something big and will really stick it to the Rebels and we want in!"
Lux said "So why do you need me?"
"The Gift has a different effect on men and women..." Eden patted her belly and what appeared to be the impression of an adult Human hand appeared on the surface in response.
