Creative/free roam mode?

I play FTL and i'm trying to get past the Engi ship but i either die or run out of fuel, etc, but if there was a mode where you just had every ship and still had to fight the rebels but you had unlimited scrap and lets say if you die then the game could say like do you want to be revived. i love your game but it would be even more amazing if you could add this in or something like this but not as a mod because i'm pretty sure someone has but i can't download them because i don't really trust them thank you for reading this.

Hello and welcome to the FTL Forums. Anyway, there are plenty of guides and advice out there on how to play the game better. But honestly, you should just keep on trying again and see if you can try a different approach.
The Engi ship(s) are not an "upgrade" to the Kestrel, just a different ship to use and if you're not good with them, then don't worry. The Engi ships are not always the best ships to fly.

If there was a free-roam mode with infinite scrap and all the ships and the ability to revive yourself, what is the fun of the game? I think most people would be bored of it very quickly if there was no challenge to be had.

Also, you don't trust mods? If you believe it will screw up your game, you can always reinstall it. It's not Triple A, 50GB big. It's a small game that doesn't take long to download.
Otherwise, what's the problem?
