[SOLVED] iPad progress backup & transfer

Hello,
I bought FTL on the PC back when it came out. I let my brother play it and he loved it, but didn't play too much as he didn't have his own PC. He just bought it for his iPad now. To see if I'd like playing it on my iPad before buying it again I signed into his iTunes and have been playing and loving it. I've unlocked a few ships and layouts already. I just realized though I need to delete the game and buy it on my iTunes account, and redownload it.
Will I lose the progress I've made?
Is there a way to prevent this if this is the case?
