Im not sure if its defined as a bug but there's an explotable flaw in the game if you attack an unmanned rebel ship and disable its systems using a weapon that only damages systems eg(breach bombs) then you can keep your gunner firing Ion weapons until he levels up to the max and you end up with a super effective weapons officer without fighting.
