Got my first two victory runs today, one in the Kestrel, which was notable, because I did it cloakless, but using a 'green' combat crew. IIRC, my loadout was 1 defense drone, max shields/engine, 5 weapons lvls, 2 in everything else. Had the whole arsenal except the cloak that run.
The second run though, was special... I went for The Osprey, to see if I could get both artillery beam achievements in one run (Patience, and no weapon upgrades until S5)... I got both of those done, but that was the MINOR part of the run! It turns out the RNG gods decided this would be a LOLLASERS run...
S1: dropped a Automated Re-Loader from some ship...
S2: Shop had a second Re-Loader... I figure.. OK. I'll do this Uzi-style..
At this point, I've just stuck to L4 in shields and engines, saving my scrap otherwise, apart from levelling power, and the artillery beam.
S3: A shop has a Weapon Pre-Igniter... SOLD! I think I also found a heavy laser I here.
S4: I buy a drone system here, get the defense 1 drone, figure i'm good for the flagship.
S5: A shop has a second burst laser II. I sell basically my whole inventory at this point to go with the Double-Reloading Pre-Ignited Bursty goodness.
S6: A heavy laser II shows up. At about this point, The Osprey pretty much was insta-disabling any ship I ran across.
S7: just finished levelling up
And then the boss fight. I usually use boarders to take out the missile launcher, but this time around I was throwing out so much laser spam that I actually had to pull them back early to not lose 'em to the fire! I think I killed most of the crew just via laser damage...
And that, gentlemen, is probably the most WTFOP run the RNG will ever give me. I nuked each stage of the flagship in about a minute, with 10 damage every 5 seconds or so, plus the artybeam every 20 seconds. This was too much power for me. I can just imagine my captain turning into a power-mad tyrant!
End levels. I think I leveled up the artybeam once in sectors 2,3,4.
